  10. Martha: Just try to be with your mom and support her the best you can. Has hospice been called in? They can give your mom and you support. You and your mom and your entire family have my prayers. Don M
  11. Welcome Kadydid: Posssibly the radiation trreatment will help your dad a lot. I think your dad should talk to the cancer doctor (medical oncologist) and let him give an opinion on whether your dad should do chemo or not. You and your dad have my best wishes for an effective treatment. Don M
  12. Welcome Pink diamond Don M
  13. Welcome Lynda: there are many treatment options for advanced lung cancer. I suspect the surgeon just deals with early stage cancer and does not really keep tabs on the advances in late stage treatment. It is a good idea to go to a major cancer center. It sounds like your dad is going to a major cancer center. Let us know what the treatment plan is. As soon as your dad has a treatment plan, you can zero in and focus on that. You and your dad have my prayers. Don M
  14. Hi Pattie, welcome. You and your mom have my prayers. Don M
  15. Hi Martha: welcome to this group. I am sorry to hear of your mom's suffering. I hope they find a way to inflate yourmom's good lung. there are many treatment options available for stage 4 cancer. Whatever happens, you and your mom have my prayers. Don m

    gotta run

Cindi: so, I hope the Pulmonary rehab works wonders for you and may your breasts never have more than a benign bump or two. Don M
  17. Cindy: I hope you can talk your dad into getting a second opinion. One good thing is that he got angry at the inc appointment. You might compliment him on getting angry at the onc and suggest that he get another. Don M
  18. I am sorry to hear about your mom's setback. As you can see, many people have multiple regimens of chemo. One good thing is that your mom had such good reults on her first regimen. If I had to do chemo again, I would ask about using a combo that included avastin and a platinum based drug such as carboplatin. Your mom and you have my best wishes for another good result with her new treatment plan. Just to elaborate on a little bit what Bunny said, once the cancer gets into the nodes, it has access to the lymphatic system and can go anywhere in the body. "The horse would be out of the barn" is what my surgeon told me. Don M
  19. Welcome home Joanie. Don M
  20. Hi Sam. It is hard to put the nodules out of your mind. I think they could be fromm bronchitis. If they stay less than 1 cm over 6 months or a year, you probably don't have to worry about them. Don M
  21. Carleen: My first reaction was to go for it. Have a baby. I am a big believer in babies. then I thought about the practical aspects. You know your situation better than me, but I would risk saying that Keith is going to need you at 100%. I think I recall you saying that you don't have close family members living in your area. If there were aunts and uncles and grandparents to help out, then I think you could do it. One thing is, to have a baby in spite of the ravages of cancer on Keith and on you too, seems like a wonderful affirmation of life. You would be thumbing your nose at the cancer. (That is my heart talking). Don M
