Guest Cheryl Schaefer Posted October 20, 2003 Posted October 20, 2003 They put him on a ventalator Friday. His blood pressure dropped to about 54. They did a procedure via leg to elevate. Infection still there but worst problem is air leakage from one lung. Draining and hoping it will heal on it's on. If not, they may surgically remove the rest of his lung or try to repair leaks. Surgery is highly risky so they are taking a few days to see if he will stablize or heal on his own. Lung remains inflated. Only good news right now. Don't know if he's going to make it and even if he does, he has to have more treatments which could aggrevate the situation further. Cheryl Quote

donaf Posted October 21, 2003 Posted October 21, 2003 I know it must be hard for you seeing him on a ventilator. My brother was on a ventilator for over a week and it was tough seeing him. But he was eventually taken off the ventilator. My brother is a stage IV and he had pneumonia and was able to come out of that. Prayers for both you and Dick. Donaf Quote
