    One Year Ago Today

Saying prayers for very good results today, Tracy!
  2. Is there anything you don't mind spending an extra few bucks on once a month? Something you just gotta have to treat yourself?
  3. Here are some great ways of dealing with the burdens of life: * Accept that some days you're the pigeon, and some days you're the statue. * Always keep your words soft and sweet, just in case you have to eat them. * Always read stuff that will make you look good if you die in the middle of it. * Drive carefully. It's not only cars that can be recalled by their maker. * If you can't be kind, at least have the decency to be vague. * If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it. * It may be that your sole purpose in life is simply be kind to others. * Never put both feet in your mouth at the same time, because then you won't have a leg to stand on. * Nobody cares if you can't dance well. Just get up and dance. * Since it's the early worm that gets eaten by the bird, sleep late. * The second mouse gets the cheese * When everything's coming your way, you're in the wrong lane. * Birthdays are good for you. The more you have, the longer you live. * You may be only one person in the world, but you may also be the world to one person. * Some mistakes are too much fun to only make once. * We could learn a lot from crayons... Some are sharp, some are pretty and some are dull. Some have weird names, and all are different colors, but they all have to live in the same box. *A truly happy person is one who can enjoy the scenery on a detour.
  4. He Is Watching You! A burglar broke into a house one night. He shined his flashlight around looking for valuables, and when he picked up a CD player to place in his sack, a strange, disembodied voice echoed from the dark saying, "Jesus is watching you." He nearly jumped out of his skin, clicked his flashlight out and froze. When he heard nothing more after a bit, he shook his head, promised himself a long vacation after his next big score, then clicked the light back on and began searching for more valuables. Just as he pulled the stereo out so he could disconnect the wires, clear as a bell he heard, "Jesus is watching you." Freaked out, he shined his light around frantically, looking for the source of the voice. Finally, in the corner of the room, his flashlight beam came to rest on a parrot. "Did you say that?" he hissed at the parrot. "Yep," the parrot confessed, then squawked, "I'm just trying to warn you." The burglar relaxed. "Warn me, huh? Who the heck are you?" "Moses," replied the bird. "Moses?" the burglar laughed. "What kind of people would name a parrot Moses?" The bird promptly answered, "Probably the same kind of people that would name a 140 pound Rottweiler Jesus."

    i dont get it

On my anniversary, my boys all seem to have gotten together for some pre-planning in order to keep me busy on that day. Although they mean well and do manage to keep me occupied, it still doesn't take away the thoughts of "what if" that fill my head. But, I know that I would definitely prefer having their company on special days versus being alone. I'm sure your Dad would jump at the idea of spending any day with his beautiful daughter.
  7. Ellie, I'm so very sorry that your friend received this diagnosis. I have shared this website with several people that have been recently diagnosed with lung cancer. All have seemed very grateful for the information I have shared with them.
  8. Not enough!!! Which is worse, hungry or too full?
  9. I'm sure we did this a while back but I think it's ok to have a go at it again. One person asks a which is worse question and the next answers and asks. Which is worse?: no air conditioning in summer or no heat in winter?
  10. I have the highest admiration for both John and Elizabeth Edwards and respect their wishes in the handling of this delicate issue. Like others, I don't feel life should merely come to a screeching halt because of a cancer diagnosis. It seems apparent that this couple is in love and has their act together. I'm sure that if John edwards had to choose between his career and his wife, he would choose his wife. But, at this point in time, it doesn't appear this is a decision that has to be made. I'm sure that keeping busy and focused on this campaign will be much better for Mrs. Edwards than sitting home, dwelling on what might happen. Way too often, cancer seems to be tucked away in the closet. It's always something that happens to someone else. Many people don't want to hear too much or know too many details. I think having a presidential candidate and his wife, openly talking about cancer issues, is a great way to bring awareness to the country.

    Scan results good

This sounds like a good report to me, Ernie. So very glad that the scan and the waiting are over for you for a while.
  12. thought we could try this and see what happens.... I'll start by listing a word, the next person types the first word that pops into their head, and so on. Could be interesting, and provoke questions.... First word.... Daybreak
  13. I saw a woman in my work's parking lot today try and squeeze her big car into a very tight space. After barely making it in without a scratch...she saw that she couldn't open her door. I sat there on the bench at break and had myself a good giggle I have had bad judgement before, but you should have seen this woman.
  14. What was the last really stupid thing you saw someone do?

    TV Tunes

Listen (and remember) some of your favorite tv theme songs. They may have forgotten something, but with this list I'm not sure what. http://www.televisiontunes.com/browse.html
  16. Betts, just popping in to send good wishes for your Dad during his treatment. You have gotten some very good advice here that will be very helpful.

    Can Anybody Relate?

I'm so sorry for the terrible things you are dealing with right now. I can't even begin to relate with what you are going through but I do want you to know that I care.
  18. Larry, I just love all of these tips. Thanks for the post.

    29 Years.....

Thanks to all of you for all the supportive words you sent my way. Although the day was very hard for me, I was able to spend a lot of time recalling happy memories and was even able to laugh. Little Ella, my four month old grand baby, spent a lot of time with me that day. You know, when I look into her eyes, I just have to believe that somewhere in time she has met her grandpa Dennis. You guys have always been such a great source of support for me when the going gets tough. I will never fail to thank God for bringing us together, to help each other deal with the fate we have been given.
  21. Topetecan was the second line of chemo for Dennis and it really kicked his butt. He had very few side effects from the first line of treatment but the Topetecan was really hard on his system. Like your husband, he seemed to be completely drained while being treated with this drug. To be on the safe side, I would definitely place a call to his oncologist. Saying prayers that your husband feels better.

  23. A man is at work one day when he notices that his co-worker is wearing an earring. This man knows his co-worker, a normally conservative fellow, and is curious about his sudden change in "fashion sense." The man walks up to him and says, "I didn't know you were into earrings." "Don't make such a big deal, it's only an earring," he replies sheepishly. His friend falls silent for a few minutes, but then his curiosity prods him to say, "So, how long have you been wearing one?" "Ever since my wife found it in my truck."
