  4. Thanks for the address. I sent an e-mail in to the link. I am taking Iressa right now and my last blood test was very encouraging. The CEA is down to 6.5 When I was diagnosed in June 2004 it was 36. I do not smoke so it was a huge shock to find out I had lung cancer. Sure do appreciate you sending the information . God bless. pammie
  5. We still play pac man in this house Melanie. Fun game. Glad the gamma knife stuff is available to you. praying for great results. pammie
  6. Praying taxol will work for you in a great way. pammie
  7. Chemo is so hard on the whole body. If it is not significantly affecting the cancer what is the purpose of continuing with it. I took 6 months of chemo with almost no shrinkage or any of the tumors. I was glad to get off of something that made me feel bad and was not helping anyway. The chemo did keep me from getting worse so I can say that good thing. Am on Iressa and so far the side effects are very minimal. Seems like every person is different in their reaction to chemo and other meds. praying for your husband to respond wonderfully to the next treatments. pammie
  8. So thankful there is some good news to focus on. Be positive about that. Will continue to keep you in our prayers. pammie
  9. Let yourselve grieve. The pain of a loss is still to new to ignore. Then after some months of healing look back and see that sometimes there is no answer that we in this life will be happy with. Sometimes either choice has bad aspects and good aspects. These are hard issues to deal with. Please let some time pass for your family before raking over choices and second guessing yourselves or your father. Praying for you all pammie

    scan results

Carole, that sounds very much like my situation. Did six months of carbo/taxo chemo with very little shrinkage but the doc said no radtiation since the cancer is widely spread. Same reason, might do damage to other organs or tissue. I am now on iressa and the first blood test was good. so praying that this will continue. Sounds like you guys are dealing with the typical scenario. Continue to resist this disease and who knows what kind of effective treatment they will come up with. God bless. pammie
  11. Don and Lucie, we will be lifting you up to the Father today for good results. Your postive encouraging attitude is a tremendously uplifting outlook for all of us in the same struggle. Thank you for being magnificent example. God bless you today especially and as Lucie recovers. pammie
  12. TAnn, sorry your mom is hurting. That is always distressing for the family. I has carboplatin and taxotere once every three weeks from July 2004 until the first part of Dec. 2004. Didn't shrink anything but at least I was stable. Lost all my hair after the second chemo treatment. Took enough meds to stock a pharmacy it seemed, but they did control the bad side effects. keep on encouraging you mom and giving her lots of positive feedback. My husband has been such an encouragment to me. He is a person who is very positive and has a "never say die" attitude. God is the source of all good things. His mighty right hand is holding and sheltering us in this fight. And that is exactly what He does for all those who put their trust in Him. Things don't always work out exactly as we think they should but He knows the best plan for each one. that is a great comfort to me and my family. praying for your mom, you and your family. pammie
  13. Glad to hear things are a little better for you Beth. Your kids see your example and gain so much encouragement to fight and not give up. Sure hope and pray the Alimta works wonderfully for you. pammie.
  14. Your diligence and perseverance to find out as much info as possible before making a decision is great Don. Keep up the good work. HOpe and pray that no malignancy is found. pammie
  15. So very saddned to hear about your father. You and your family will be in our prayers. with love and concern pammie
  16. After carbo and taxo I couldn't taste much of anything. The chemo did give a metalic or some odd indescribable taste in my mouth. I could taste more of sugar and salt than anything. Ate because my body needed it but didn't really enjoy the food. Chemo ended in Dec. 2004 but still haven't fully gotten back my taste buds. At least I can taste stuff now to a greater degree. I make myself lemon pie cause it is tart. Seems like each one has a slightly different experience. I have a number of food allergies so can't eat some stuff that I might could taste like jalapenos and chilis. So good luck on trying different food items. pammie

    good news

Can't help but be sad for those who have been receiving bad news but I have to share my good news. Saw the doc today and the tumor markers are the lowest ever. CEA is down to 6.5. i started Iressa one month ago and have done very well on it. The lungs look clear. Despite some pain in the plueral area I feel good. The good news is God working in my body and in our lives. So thankful for His graciousness. The doc said he was not expecting the drop in the one tumor marker so was pleasantly surpised. God willing my body will continue to heal. rejoicing in this household this week. pammie
  25. So sorry the Iressa did not help Denise. Praying that the Tarceva will. you are in my thoughts and prayers. pammie
