  1. I went through some of the same thing with my husband Alan. He spent alot of time in the hospital and everytime he was there it was because "I didn't want to deal with him anymore!!!" It was all my fault he was in the hospital and I was not doing enough to get him out. I too cried many many tears, but at the same time I knew the man blaming me for everything was not my "husband". Someone mentioned Decadron. Alan was on this steriod and had severe side effects one being he literally lost his mind and was in an organic psycosis. Not sure your mom is on it, but something to look into. Please try and stay strong, I know this is easier said then done, but it will pass. Remember to take care of yourself and do not let yourself be a punching bag. regardless of the situation it is not acceptable
  2. For me it is Hot Tamales (I was born without the Chocolate Gene, I do not really like Chocolate) . I know it is crazy, I used to give most my candy away. except Hot Tamales!!!!! Debbie Husband Alan DX small cell lung cancer Jan 10th 2005
  3. Maybe you can contact Mike S. and have him teach you martial arts and with a sly little left hook to the rib cage you can teach those ------- a lesson on how Ladies should be treated!!!! They obviously have a lot to learn.
  4. Gail, I am sorry about the "magic bullet" not working, but also happy to hear your Dad's quality of life has improved. he is eating again and that is always a good sign and any weight gain is a big positive. My husband lost over 50 pounds and has only put 7 back on in 3 months, but I will take it. continued prayers for you and your family!!! Debbie Husband Alan DX small cell lung cancer Jan 10th 2005
  5. My house has always had that "lived" in look. Any of my frieds or family who drop by unannoucnced know me well enough to know my house will never pass "white glove" test. Thank goodness Alan knew going into this marriage that housekeeping was not one of my strong points!!!! (left dishes in the sink this morning) Debbie Husband Alan DX small cell lung cancer Jan 10th 2005

  8. OK this is a 2 part answer for me. 16 years ago I would have started with an Ice cold beer and then continued through the night. 12. Beth, I have no great words of wisdom, only those of support and prayer for what you are going through. When I go to Church tomorrow I will add your family to our prayer book, so know that many people will be praying for you. I hope that gives you a small comfort. 13. Before one particular Halloween I left my bike behind someones car and it was run over, I was devastated and my parents could not afford to buy me another one. Our community in Pittsburgh had this big Halloween contest and my mom dressed me up as an old lady (put paper in the back of the dress so I looked like I was all hunched over) well she did such a great job I won 1st place. Yup a new bike!!! I still have the picture. Debbie
  14. Like the article mentions, so many states are dependant on the tax money generated by cigarettes that they have no incentive to prevent the start or develope programs to really help people quit. My husband suffers from Small cell lung cancer that has spread to his brain. He still smokes a pack or more a day. That's how devestating this addiction is. 19. I can only speak as the caregiver for my husband, but other than some radiation burn and feeling tired Alan tolerated radiation pretty well. (he also had issues with swallowing, but we worked around that with soft foods). Good luck in your fight with the beast. Debbie Husband Alan DX with small cell lung cancer Jan 10th 2005
  20. Hi, my husband will sometimes get dizzy and this is primarily due to low blood pressure. I have a home blood pressure machine that helps me keep an eye on it and when it gets real low I just remind him to get up slowly and be careful when he walks. 22. Ok I will admit to being superstitious, but only when it comes to sports. I have been playing some kind of sport my whole life. when I play hockey I put my equipment on the same way every game. If I play really well and we win I will wear the same T shirt for the next game. so only with sports. I won't go into how elabrate it gets when Notre Dame is playing LOL. in my everyday life, the real world, it is all about God and his guidance. Debbie Husband Alan DX with small cell lung cancer Jan 10th 2005
