  1. You and Mark had such a close relationship and being without him is like losing half of yourself. ((())) Grief counseling is good; it helped Brian & I deal with Jen's death, but it takes time. Also, I think this time of year brings up many deep emotions and memories that hit very hard. I will pray for you, Donna. Please pm me if you just need to talk. I'm here for you. Joanie ((()))
  2. Congratulations to your Dad! This is wonderful news -and just in time for the holidays! Enjoy to the max. Joanie ((()))
  3. That is truly wonderful shrinkage! I'm sure she's feeling better. I remember having a big shrink number too (don't remember exactly the number, but it was dramatic) after the first two sessions. Everyone was delighted. Please give your Mom a "Hip, Hip Hooray" from me. Joanie ((()))

  6. I was reading the Suvivorship issue of Cure magazine recently and saw an article about survivorship plans. I was curious how many of us have actually been given a step by step plan after completing all the therapy to treat the cancer. Has your oncologist actually sat down and recomended going to a nutritionist, specific exercise programs, vitamin plans, specific smoking cessation plan of action, if needed, psychological counseling to combat the "survivor fears" which can hit at any time. I'd be curious to know how many of us have had this SPECIFIC overview with their doctor? And would you feel "better taken care of" if you did have a specific plan outlined for you. Step by step in writing. Of course, we must all advocate for ourselves and at dr. visit times we need to "talk it up" but shouldn't the overall picture automatically include this follow up? Has anyone actually been given this kind of follow up? What experiences have we had? Any thoughts? Joanie

  14. Just wanted to send my encouragement your way. I'm a 4 1/2 year survivor of small cell (limited). I've had some bumps along the way, but I'm still here. Good to see your therapy is underway, the faster they attack, the better. Yeah, I'm a doggie person too. My Dagwood is going to be 13 on December 11th (the day I found him outside the supermarket.) He has been a wonderful companion, keeps me company when he knows I don't feel well, and smiles alot, too! You'll get lots of information and support here. Glad you found us. Joanie ((()))
  15. Oh man, you really get everything handed to you at once, don't ya! But you are some fighter, I really admire your strength. I'm heading for the pub, it being Saturday night and all. I need a Bailey's please after all the home improvement work this week. Glad to see you workin' again! Joanie ((()))

  20. I feel deeply reading your post and remember what a great sense of humor Brian had. I can picture him loving Halloween, it's a fun time for the child in all of us. And I still remember fondly how he called me Spunky - I loved that. Please try and remember your good times together - very hard, but I've found that helps when we loose a loved one. I firmly believe they remain with us in spirit and would want us to go on as best as we can. Remember too, we're all here for you, always. I'll keep you in my prayers. Joanie ((()))
  21. So glad to hear that Joel got over that hump. Pain that won't leave and fever really are horrible. (((Joel))) glad you're better. Joanie
  22. Congratulations to the whole family, Ann. Just wonderful news! Joanie ((()))
  23. Well, the carpet measuring guy showed up at 8:01 this a.m. after calling at 7:15 - quick, jump into clothes, brush teeth. He came and went in 10 minutes, tops! Hope the carpeting comes that easily. We picked kakhi color with white baseboard and ceiling for our room, carpet is a darker, shaded beige plush, and for the small room, a dark green, white window frames and boarder and a beige, cream and green speckled berber rug. That room is for tv, stationery bike ( I hope!) plants, etc. I think we need some touches of other colors - any ideas for window shades would be appreciated! Funny, yesterday I felt not so well. No energy and very achy all over. Today is a good day and so far no aches and pains. I guess that's how it goes when you're healing. So I grab the good days and try to get some things done. And the nurse just left, so now I can get rollin', but I'll roll slowly. Great day to everyone. Joanie ((()))
  24. It's great that your sister has faith in her doctor. I'm sure he'd stick by what he says, so I think she's dealing with GOOD news. Will pray for you both. Joanie ((()))
  25. No way, Ginny, did he get to pick out the carpeting. That was a real trip! Men have no patience - if they don't see what they like right away, they're ready to give up That was last nights adventure. He did pick out the paint colors though and he did a great job with that (whew!) Joanie ((()))
