    David A. Update

Well I was going to wait till David got out to post but now I feel pressured. Tell David he is WAY too needy and he needs to stop with the BobMc envy, we in chat like David WAY more than Bob and not to worry about it. Oh and Ry, tell David that I don't know about Bob's mask post but the ratdog thread in the Joke Forum has almost as many views as this thread. And to be serious for half a second...tell David my thoughts are with him!

    Raving MAAAAAAAD!

I haven't been posting too much lately but now you guys have brought me out! First off, I want to say Sandy, I understand your point and where you were going with your post..this isn't about that at all! I want to add my 2 cents to the thread here and to be perfectly honest, I pretty much agree with everyone to a degree. Dean, you know that I know where you are coming from with the alcoholism thing. I have said in chat before that all I want in life is to have a "socially acceptable" disease..instead I have alcoholism and lung cancer... what the hell?? I remember that I never kept my alcoholism a secret, I felt obligated to get the message out there that anyone can suffer from alcoholism. To this day, I do not hide that. However, I am not so upfront with my lung cancer. It doesn't have so much to do with any stigma...I just don't want to see the pity in people's faces...immediately they look at you as if you are on death's door. Hell, before I had lung cancer, I would have looked at people the same way. And yes, I probably would have asked someone if they smoked since smoking is a cause of lung cancer. Sometimes I think when people ask me if I smoked, that first onset of irritation that I feel is actually masking my guilt for smoking as long as I did. I knew it could kill me and I took the risk. How stupid of me..addiction or not! And about the breast cancer thing.. a woman on my "team" was diagnosed last year..she had chemo for 6 months followed by radiation. I don't envy her one minute of any of it..comfortable gown or not. Her life spun out of control the same as mine did. And breast cancer has its own pyschological demons...more power to these people if they have more money. Bottom line is, there still is no cure.
  6. Oh boy David... This kind of behavior is going to keep you in the treehouse for sure!! Then again...treehouses are kind of kewl....

    Dave G's dog

Hey Dave... My hamster just died and I have the exercise wheel and all his little hamster toys and stuff if you want it for the "dog" Since you have the harness and stuff already on him, maybe you can put him in the exercise wheel, hook the wheel up to the electricity and have him power a night light or something. Just a thought!
  8. Ohhhh Norme... Now its my turn to wish that I lived closer so that I could help YOU out.... but I can only be there in spirit. I am so sorry that things are the way they are right now for you and Buddy. I hope too that the Iressa starts doing something for him soon. Many cyber hugs to you....
  9. Jeesh David...I was just warming up the car to drive up to Michigan to TAKE you to the damn doctor. Glad you called them...please post when you get the results. I will be thinking about you so don't worry about the ringing ears.
  10. Hey, I just saw this post RY and I might just have dropped the phone... we're talking 20 years ago....... I think I still dropped phones then....
  11. Sooooooooo Cary.... I guess what your saying is maybe I need to READ your posts more often?? Or is it that Oklahoma is a bit behind in getting the news??? Anyway, here is the link from the KFOR website... I'm still impressed that THE news station in Oklahoma actually had a story on Lung Cancer.... http://www.kfor.com/Global/story.asp?S= ... v=6uyAKHLh Pretty much the same thing Cary posted 6 weeks ago. Pretty interesting stuff!! >
  12. Lo and behold, the previews for the 10:00 nightly news here on the NBC affiliate here in Oklahoma City showed that there was a segment on a possible new treatment for lung cancer. Having lived in Oklahoma for 3 years now and never seeing anything on the news to do with lung cancer, of course I had to watch. The report was on a Dr. Chen up at the University of Rochester in NY who has been treating inoperable lung cancer patients based on the time line of a lung cancer cell dividing and multiplying. I'm medically challenged so am hoping I am explaining this right... low dosage chemo is administered resulting in very few side effects and unaltered wbc and 5 hours later they do radiation. They interviewed one man who is NED but originally had an inoperable large tumor in his lung and on his heart. The percentage of people who have been helped this way was high, but of course that was the time that my son chose to burst into my bedroom and I missed the percentage number. Was hoping to find more on the news station's website but of course it is not updated. Will check again tomorrow.

    Update

What the heck are you doing Francine?? You had us worried to death for crying out loud!!! I am SO glad to see your post and although you went through an ordeal, am very glad to see you are okay!!! Welcome back... you have been so missed by many!!!
  15. Once upon a time there was a female brain cell which, by mistake, happened to end up in a man's head. She looked around nervously but it was all empty and quiet. "Hello?" she cried, but no answer. "Is there anyone here?" she yelled a little louder, but still no answer. Now the female brain cell started to feel alone and scared and yelled loudly: "HELLO, IS THERE ANYONE HERE?" Then she heard a voice from far, far away: > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >"HELLO, we're down here........"
  16. Well Bob, with all these women bidding on your body parts, you might as well cancel your appointment tomorrow... your head will be WAY too big to make a mold OF. If you still plan on going...good luck...it sounds like you are on the right road!!

    Some questions

Bob, As much as my goal in life is to keep you happy and entertained, I had to take the picture off because it just didn't "fit" in certain forums....it was only temporary... I'm sure you'll forgive me!!
  18. Sam always took the time to answer posts and was a great support and friend on the board to many. I hope that your family will find some solace that your sorrow is shared by many of his friends here....you are not alone... I am so sorry...I will miss your grandfather....

    General news

David, I'm glad that the tumor has not shown any progression and that the doctor once again has you on a treatment path. That said, if YOU are feeling that nagging feeling that maybe you need a second opionion, listen to YOUR GUT and go and get one. It doesn't hurt anything and can only make you feel better. My thoughts are with you David as always....
  20. Okay Norme, I know you want to get off the subject but I just found this post and had to add to it.... I need to be in the club too... I love your good common sense and your subtle wittiness!!! You write so eloquently, yet sometimes just make me laugh out loud. Am glad that you are back on here regularly, even if your head is bigger now!
  21. Okay, Cary, what the hell is that?? You sure ruined that pint of Ben & Jerry's I had jammed in the corner of the freezer for a rainy day. I wonder if other people can remember the exact moment they turned anorexic??? Oh, and Ry, gatherer of phone numbers and addresses.... I'M the stalker????
  22. Why is it that no matter what color of bubble bath you use the bubbles are always white? Is there ever a day when mattresses are NOT on sale? Why do people constantly return to the refrigerator with the hopes that something new to eat will have materialized? Why do people keep running over a string a dozen times with their vacuum cleaner, then reach down, pick it up, examine it, then put it down to give their vacuum one more chance? Why is it that no plastic garbage bag will open from the end you first try? How do those dead bugs get into closed light fixtures? Why do we wash BATH towels? Aren't we clean when we use them? If not then what was the purpose of the bath? Considering all the lint you get in your dryer, if you kept drying your clothes would they eventually just disappear? When we are in the supermarket and someone rams our ankle with a shopping cart then apologizes for doing so, why do we say 'Its all right'? It isn't all right, so why don't we say, 'That hurt, you stupid idiot'? Why is it that when you're walking up the stairs and you get to the top you always think there's still one more step? Why is it that whenever you attempt to catch something that's falling off the table you always manage to knock something else over? Is it true that the only difference between a yard sale and a trash pickup is how close to the road the stuff is placed? In winter, why do we try to keep the house as warm as it was in summer when we complained about the heat? Why do women always ask questions that have no right answers? Why do old men wear their pants higher than younger men? Why is it that inside every older person is a younger person wondering what the heck happened? If diamonds are a girl's best friend and a dog is man's best friend, who really is the dumber sex? Why are the needy only thought of during the holidays? Aren't they just as needy throughout the rest of the year? Why is it that men can react to broken bones as 'just a sprain' and deep wounds as 'just a scratch', but when they get the sniffles they are deathly ill 'with the flu' and have to be bedridden for weeks? How come we never hear any father-in-law jokes? Why do men forget everything and women remember everything? If at first you don't succeed, shouldn't you try doing it like your wife told you to? Can you cry under water? How important does a person have to be before they are considered assassinated instead of just murdered? If money doesn't grow on trees then why do banks have branches? Since bread is square, then why is sandwich meat round? Why do you have to "put your two cents in" ... butit's only a "penny for your thoughts" Where's that extra penny going to? Why does a round pizza come in a square box? What did cured ham actually have? How is it that we put man on the moon before we figured out it would be a good idea to put wheels on luggage? Why is it that people say they "slept like a baby" when babies wake up like every two hours? Why are you IN a movie, but you are ON TV? Why do people pay to go up tall buildings and then put money in binoculars to look at things on the ground? How come we choose from just two people for President and fifty for Miss America? Why do doctors leave the room while you change? They're going to see you naked anyway. If a 911 operator has a heart attack, whom does he/she call? I signed up for an exercise class and was told to wear loose-fitting clothing. If I HAD any loose-fitting clothing, I wouldn't have signed up in the first place! Wouldn't it be nice if whenever we messed up our life we could simply press 'Ctrl Alt Delete' and start all over? Stress is when you wake up screaming and then you realize you haven't fallen asleep yet. If raising children was going to be easy, it never would have started with something called labor!
  23. Becky, Happy Birthday and good luck on your appointment on Monday!
