    Awkward Card

Kelly: your mother's 'friend' (and I use the term loosely) may not have contacted her since for some time, but you should take the high road and simply send her a note to let her know that your dear mother has passed and let her know the date she passed. If the 'friend' feels any remorse at the news it will be her problem and not yours. wendyr
  4. Charlene: that was a beautiful post and tribute to your dear mother. I am so sorry that she has passed and left you to grieve. Please accept my deepest condolences on your loss. God Bless wendyr

There are survivors as you will find here. Good luck with your chemo and please keep us posted on how you're doing. Good Luck & God Bless wendyr

  9. A great post. Glad you touched on the 'tyranny of positive thinking' Some people expect the cancer patient to be upbeat and positive continually. Its just not possible. wendyr

  12. You can also try 'magic mouthwash' It's only available on prescription but the pharmacist compounds it. It's made of lidocaine, mylanta and benadryl. If thrush is present then nystatin can also be added. My hubby used it to numb his mouth, throat and esophagus during radiation. Good Luck wendyr

    What Now?

While we all hope for NED (no evidence of disease) there is nothing wrong with stable. Stable is good. I'm sure your dear wife will start to feel better soon. Make sure she drinks lots of fluids and stays properly hydrated. It can make all the difference. Congratulations on Stable wendyr

  19. Marci, It's pretty common for a lung cancer patient to 'take out' their anger and frustration on the one closest to them. In this case you're it. I had the identical situation with my own mother. All of her anger was directed at me as I was the only one there taking care of her. When my brothers came around - quite infrequently - she was as nice as pie to them. A totally different person. I found it amazing and I admit to feeling hurt. Her hospice nurse told me that what was happening was totally normal and that I should not take it personally. Easier said than done! She also told me that if my mother got totally unreasonable and out of control I had a perfect right to tell her to stop it. I never had the heart to go that far, and I just kept taking care of her and absorbing the abuse. I hope you can find a happy medium in which you can care for your mother without the stress that caregiving always brings and somehow find harmony with your aunt. Perhaps the next time your aunt tells you not to stress over the bathroom you could suggest she clean it for a change. Good Luck & God Bless wendyr
  20. Hi Aaron: Sorry to hear of your neuropathy. I cannot help with any supplements but I think Neurontin and Lyrica are used for neuropathy. Hopefully others who have had this problem will chime in. Good Luck & God Bless wendyr
  21. Hi and welcome. First of all eliminate all other causes for the fatigue. As others has said, he very well may be just worn out. If it is depression, then treatment is available. My hubby suffered from severe depression for 8 months. Couldn't get out of the bed or if he did, then he'd just sit in his chair. He tried a number of drugs, see profile, but now has found an anti depressant that works and he's a different person, more like his old self. Sometimes you have to try different drugs in order to find one that works. Hope he gets good treatment for depression. Good Luck & God Bless wendyr
