  1. I have never seen Ensure on the shelves of any shops and actually only heard about it when I asked the GP for something for my dad. So, I assume that this particular thing is prescription only. But there are things like Complan, which are build up drinks, but they don't seems as nutritious as the Ensure. ETS: I just found this link http://www.chemist-4-u.com/home.php?cat=402 and so it seems that it can be purchased. But, looking at the cost of it 27 drinks for around £40 .....Like $80 please tell your friend to get this from his GP!!!!
  2. If your friends appetite is low, then tell him to contact his GP and ask to be prescribed with Ensure Plus, or something similar. He will be able to get this on Prescription (which will lower the cost, or maybe he could even get it free this way), but he may have to 'fight' to get it.

    Not Again

Oh Jean (((HUGS))) I am so sorry to hear your news. I will keep you and your husband in my thoughts.
  9. Ah. I thought that it could be done here. Like I have my friend make the siggy and/or ticker and then I put one on mine for people to see. If they would like one then they just click to donate at the top, make their donation, let me know and then I would send them the info for the siggy/ticker.
  10. I guess that I'm the only one who thought this would be a good way to raise money to support this cause?
  11. I was thinking that with next month being LC Awareness that maybe there could be a signature banner (or ticker) made to symbolise this, but if anybody wanted one then they could purchase it for a small donation (Maybe $2) and the proceeds could go to the LC Foundation?
  12. I'm glad to hear that Tom is starting to feel better! I hope they call with the results of the x-ray soon.

    A Personal Update

Hi Beth It's very nice to meet you and hear about your family
  14. Sorry to hear that your dad is having a hard time right now (((HUGS))) Is it just swallowing food that he's struggling with, or is it liquids as well? If it's just the food then have you thought about fortifying some drinks for him? You have probably tried this, but it's the only thing that I can think of that may help him to get something down.
  15. (((HUGS))) I will be sending positive vibes for a good CT result!!!
  16. It's good to know that your dad had a better day. I hope that they continue for him
  17. How wonderful!! Happy 4th anniversary!! Hope you have/had a great time.
  18. Hi Cheryl (((HUGS))) I'm so sorry to hear that your dad isn't doing so well. I have also been struggling with how and when to tell my children (who live with grandad) what is happening. I have told my eldest (13) everything and she seems to be coping very well. My boy (10) knows the illness but not the prognosis and the youngest (6) just thinks that grandad is 'poorly'. It's so hard to know what to say to children, isn't it? Even if, like in your case, your daughter is now a young lady. You don't want your children to hurt, who does? But at the same time, you don't want them to feel that you're excluding them from something important that is happening within their family unit. I hope that you all find peace with what is happening right now and I will be sending your dad lots of positive vibes.

    Depression.

While we were in with the Oncologist on Monday, I 'slyly' gave the nurse a nod in the direction of the door and she declared that she would like to speak with me. This worked a treat b/c my dad thought that it was her wanting me and not visa versa. So, I gave her a very brief description of how things had been at home. So, when we went back in she broached the subject by saying that she thinks he's looking a little depressed. The Onc then went on the explain Reactive depression and that there is help there should my dad decided to take it. When we left he mentioned it to me, but seriously thought that she had called me out of the room to ask my opinion. Anyway, after hearing of the reduction in the tumour, my dad's spirit has really lifted. He's up and about and even took a walk to the shop alone yesterday. That's the first time alone in over a month and the first time at all in almost two weeks. He is less snappy with the children and a lot more talkative with us. So, for now, we are just going to let things ride and hope that he continues to improve with this
  20. Oh he is beautiful!!! Congratulations to you all!
  21. Glad to know that things are improving, good thoughts being sent that they will carry on doing so!!
  22. I'm sorry you're feeling this way I was positive my dad had mets to the brain a few weeks ago when he started getting confused, it turned out to be a urine infection. Within 2 days of IV antibiotics the confusion had gone.
  23. The Oncology unit that my dad uses is a 10 minute drive from home.
