    SEARCHING

Many people do all of the things listed above and don't get lung cancer. No one deserves lung cancer. Many people dont smoke and do get lung cancer. There are types of lung cancer that are not affiliated with smoking. Truly, there are too many factors at play for smokers and nonsmokers alike. My type of cancer has no known cause (non-small cell BAC) but smoking is felt to be unrelated to BAC. It must be unrelated in my case as I have no significant smoking history except for a short time as a student when cigarettes were outlawed everywhere I went anyway. I have no idea why I got this cancer and I have no answers. I try to teach my children about God's plan (my youngest is eight and it may be a bit of a stretch for her to understand when sometimes adults can still feel things seem unfair)! It is important to educate the public that anyone can be a victim of this horrid illness so we can get the funding we need. The division between us as smokers and nonsmokers may sometimes add to the stigma that the public has against victims of lung cancer that the patient must be to BLAME. Like breast cancer, prostate cancer... perhaps there is no one to blame. Perhaps your husband got cancer like one gets cancer. If it were not LUNG cancer, we would most likely not be so hung up on looking for a villain or culprit. Please do not feel that I am being harsh. I truly am not. You are a victim of the media and the culture which has made your son and everyone else look to your husband to find out why he has somehow gotten himself into this mess. Did he smoke, or inhale someone elses fumes, or BBQ too much....?? It just may be that he was living his life just fine and he was striken with cancer. Period. If it were god forbid a woman in your family with breast cancer the issue of blame would NOT be raised. Again, forgive my soapbox. Your husband and anyone else here did not cause their lung cancer. In way too simple terrms- it takes a whole mess of circumstances to ripen a cancer cell and to weaken the body's defenses to it. We can't let people separate us as the people who caused our own cancers -- RIGHT??
  4. I am thinking of her now as she is most likely undergoing the procedure. Keep us posted.

    I'm Back

    1. You have been and remain in my prayers. 2. That little angle on the left is one of yours???!!! I thought she was a postcard photo -- she is so outrageously beautiful! That pose is so angelic and peaceful. 3. Tired or not-- we need updates - so please make sure someone posts regularly to let us know how you are doing and what is going on.... okay?
  6. HURRAY! Can't think of a more welcome guest for he Holiday's than NED. May he stay for many many years to come.
  7. Thanks for the well wishes Andrea ... and Happy HEALTHY New Year to you and yours!
  8. A man was walking down the street when he noticed his grandpa sitting on the porch, in the rocking chair, with nothing on from the waist down. "Grandpa, what are you doing?" he exclaimed. The old man looked off in the distance and did not answer him. "Grandpa, what are you doing sitting out here with nothing on below the waist?" he asked again. The old man slowly looked at him and said, "Well, last week I sat out here with no shirt on, and I got a stiff neck ....This was your Grandma's idea."
  9. Thanks Elaine. I just found Cat's "jail" post! I hope Phyllis is ok.
  10. I haven't seen her "around"... or Phyllis either.

    Up On Bruce

Please tell Bruce he is in my prayers. I really miss him when he is off the board so tell him to get back quickly.

    a little R

He said . . . I don't now why you wear a bra; you've got nothing to put in it. She said .. . . You wear pants don't you? ======== He said .. . .Shall we try swapping positions tonight? She said . . . That's a good idea -- you stand by the ironing board while I sit on the sofa.
  13. What is the one thing that all men at singles bars have in common? They're married.
  14. What do you do with a bachelor who thinks he's God's gift to women? Exchange him. What should you give a man who has everything? A woman to show him how to work it. What's a man's idea of honesty in a relationship? Telling you his real name. What's the best way to force a man to do sit-ups? Put the remote control between his toes.
  15. What do you call a handcuffed man? Trustworthy. What does it mean when a man is in your bed gasping for breath and calling your name? You didn't hold the pillow down long enough. Why do men like smart women? Opposites attract. How are husbands like lawn mowers? They're hard to get started, they emit noxious odors, and half the time they don't work.
  16. Ry and John will understand this.... I just played it for Mr. Lisa O and we were ROFLOAO!!! TOOOOOOOOO AWESOME!!
  17. I agree with the others. My grandfather died with prostate cancer many years after successful treatment of bone mets. (His death was related to a longstanding heart condition at the age of 80). If I were Bob I would indeed check out some more aggressive options for treatment. Everyone is different. No one is a lost cause.
  18. Lisa, I have had luck with Iressa so far and I wish your husband the same. Lisa
  19. Welcome! Good for you in being proactive and checking out all of your options early on! We have a very nice group of "early stagers" here who post in the early stage section with the issues you raise (and of course they post everywhere else too )! I'll keep an eye out for you.
