  1. This board and the family that we've garnered here have been like a magnet throughout the past seven months during Terry's illness. And I find myself this week eagerly awaiting getting home and on the computer to "talk" to y'all. You've been such support. Now this afternoon I got word from a business associate and friend that his wife's brother has been diagnosed with this horrible disease and it has metastisized "all over". He is 38, has 3 young children (youngest of 7 mths). So, I invited her into the "family" and told her of the love and support that she'll find here. I hate the reason we've found each other but am so very glad that we did. Fran

    TBone has died.

Thank you all for your kind words and the continued support through these past seven months. You've all become extensions of our family and we love you for it. Terry's service was very fitting for him and the rest of the family then all the family (including aunts, uncles and cousins) along with the "Terry Bearers" (as he called them on his list), life-long friends and old navy buddies all ate supper together outside by the pond. It was good, it was sad, it was right. Thank you all so much. And don't think we're going anywhere, 'cause we're kind of like beggar lice, hard to get shake us off once we've become attached. Fran (TBone's sister) P.S. And for those that don't know what beggar lice is/are, it is a weed with a fuzzy little pod about the side of an eye pupil. They get on your clothes when you are walking in the woods and are hard to get off. Also can be a real nuisance.
  3. Hmmmmm, lousy neighbor.....angry wasps.....yes, we can work with that. Will get back with you on the telepathy plan! Ginney, please take care, take a deep breath, take a nap, take 5 or just take it out on whatever works but know that you are special and Earl is so blessed to have you. Love, Fran (TBone's sister)
  4. From the professional side: shorter with some style From the tree-hugger side: really short and punky for carefree living (I fit in this category) From the logical side: shorter is easier to keep. Non-colored is MUCH cheaper. So I generally default to shorter-in fact, mine is about 1-2 inches long all over and I often times spike it up, and I'm 47 yrs. old. And I love the gray coming in with short hair, naturally highlighted. Fran
  5. Happy Birthday, DeanCarl from the Hall Clan (TBone)! Our Mama used to hang 10 h'bird feeders each summer and boy was that a show! We often estimated upwards of 60 birds as all ports would be in use and there was lots of activity in the air. She would sit out in a lawn chair late in the afternoon and spray the water hose up into the air so the birds could cool off. You wouldn't believe the spectacle they put on. Perhaps you could try that in your weak time. She had also put a roll of wire near the feeders so that they would have a good place to land. Their little feet just fit around the small wire. Mama had had knee surgery so this was great therapy for her. It worked the rest of us quite silly as those little buggers were eating 10 lbs of sugar each week. We used 1 c sugar to 4 c water and filled those feeders every morning, mid-morning and night. We were real glad when Mama decided that 10 feeders may be a bit too many..... Take care and have a "flighty" birthday. Fran
  6. Thanks to all of you. And David, you getting to go the the Michigan Bash would just make his day. I'll be sure to tell Katha or Ginger to tell him. Did y'all have any brownies left?......... Fran
  7. Hello, lehelp family; Things are not going so well here. Terry has had to go back to Hospice this afternoon after taking a drastic turn for the worse during the day. His breathing is very labored, pulse is weak and there are some delusional comments being made. Katha, Ginger and Ann are there now with him and keeping the rest of us abreast of what's going on. At least he got to spend one night at home before going back. Katha said that he was very agitated on the trip but settled down once they got him in the room. I'll try to keep you posted on his condition. Thanks for your support, care and concern for Terry and the family. It means a lot to all of us. Fran
  8. Good Morning, Terry did go home yesterday albeit not pain free. The kids didn't know he was coming so I'm sure it was a great surprise to them. I've not talked with anyone yet today and he had just arrived when I talked yesterday so will post more later. Katha will be home later today so she'll certainly get y'all caught up. Fran
  9. Good Morning, All; TeeTaa has been down in Columbus since Tuesday so has not had access to her e-mail. Just talked to her this morning. He had a good night and was wanting a whirlpool so she called Ann to come on back early. There are some things that a sister just cannot help with. He's hopefully going home today but I will keep y'all posted. Katha will probably come home to Atlanta Sunday as her daughter has tonsilectomy/adenoidectomy Monday morning. Ginger is going home today after seeing about me for a couple of days after minor surgery. Luckily, we are a big family and can spread ourselves out. Y'all take care, Fran
  10. Ginny, All the Halls wish you and the Duke peace and comfort. Take care, Good Lady, and keep us posted on Earl and yourself. Fran

    The Michigan Bash!

Does anybody have to fly through Atlanta to get there? I could meet them at the airport with the teacakes so they could be hand delivered and well protected! And that person would get to try them warmmmmmmmmmyummmmmmmy. But I'd have to make double my plan 'cause half of 'em wouldn't make it to MI. Kickin' that post on up there.... Fran

    TBone update

Just talked to Ginger who finally convinced Ann to go home for a while, play with her kids and relax. Terry is feeling much better this afternoon, carrying on conversations with her and just generally doing better. The doctor adjusted his meds to more frequent. He said that if he sees as much improvement as he did since Friday, he may get to go home toward the end of the week. Of course he told Terry that it wasn't a jail and he could go home whenever he wanted but Terry told him he wasn't in any hurry and he wanted to go home not hurting. Terry hadn't realized that Ann had been up there the whole time without a break. I think Ginger kind of let that slip. Now he's trying to get in touch with Ann to tell her to stay at home later. We can't find her so we think she may have gone to the pool with Anna. I certainly do hope so.

    TBone update

Good Afternoon, All; Terry is still at Columbus Hospice (day 6 today) getting his meds regulated for pain management. I visited with him yesterday and he looked good, had good color and said he wasn't in as much pain as he had been. He had been quite groggy Saturday but didn't seem that way to me yesterday. He's anxious to come home. Ginger went to see him this morning and apparently he had a very rough night and today wasn't going so well. Katha is on her way down there so I'm sure I'll hear more later today. We've had no indication of when he may come home. Ann is exhausted, both mentally and physically, as she's been at his side the entire time except for a couple of meals out where friends/family made her leave. So maybe Katha going down for a few days will allow her to get some rest as Terry reacts very well to Katha. All the Buena Vista group (siblings, children, nieces/nephews, in-laws of TBone) apparently had some nervous energy yesterday and spent the day at Terry and Ann's house sprucing up, painting, doing yard work, cooking, and just generally venting excess energy as a surprise for Ann when they get home. Katha & I were jealous that we were up here in Atlanta and couldn't participate. Everybody take care and we'll keep you posted. Fran
  14. Debaroo, If that had been your name you would have fit in nicely with Matha and Katha in our family. Partically since folks are always trying to make Matha into Martha. So you must then question-is it Kartha? We could then segue to Karma, Darma, Dartha Vader, Denortha. (and I'm not even on chemo......) Fratha (Fran)
  15. I'm waaaaaaaaay laaaaaater but wish you the best. So, Chemo Sabe, Tonto and the Lone Ranger were in a battle with Indians. They high tailed it (not really running away, but riding real fast in the opposite direction) and came to a great drop-off. The Lone Ranger turned to Tonto and said "Tonto, we're in a heap of trouble." Tonto replied "What's this We S- -t, Paleface." Fran
  16. Oh, I answered someone's question about our names in the TBone Pain Control forum before I read this thread. Too long to go through again.. Fun, fun, fun. This adds an even stronger personal touch to all this. Fran
  17. Good Evening, Everybody; Terry had a very rough night but has slept most of the day. Katha (TeeTaa) took off a little before lunch to go down and give Ann a break. I'm sure she'll post more information when she gets back home. She's bringing Terry's daughter back with her to surprise her girls. Actually the little one, Livi, told her to bring her something back. When Katha asked what, Livi said "A cousin." So Katha asked which one and Livi replied "It doesn't matter, just a cousin.". A whole bunch of us may play hooky Friday and go to White Water and have a little fun. That way I get to spoil my nieces and nephews. The nicknames: TBone-he's allergic to fish and whenever Daddy's company would drain a pond and have a huge fish fry, he would get a steak. I lay claim to starting to call him that. Also tried to convince them I was allergic to fish. Didn't work.... ViVi-Her name is Virginia Inez (aka Ginger) (don't tell her I told you about the Inez part) Katha started calling her that really early in Katha's childhood. Katha is 13 years younger than Vivi. Teacake-me, Fran. I'm known far and wide for the southern teacakes that I make. (Grandma's recipe) Crawfish-Guy Crawford, brother. TeeTaa-Katha. First niece couldn't say Katha so it became TeeTaa, sometimes TaaTee. Gigi-Ginger's (Vivi) daughter. Name is Virginia, also. Livi-Olivia, Katha's youngest. A diminutive form reminiscent of Vivi. Here's the rundown on the whole family: 1 st gen:Mama (Matha-yep, there's no "r" in it., Daddy (Dozier). 2nd gen: Cathy, Ginger (Vivi), Terry Dozier (TBone), Fran (Teacake), Guy (Crawfish), Katha (TeeTaa). 3rd gen (in chronological order): Coulter, Jacob, Kali, Dozier, Caleb, Gigi, Elliott, Anna, Abby, Livi. In-laws:2nd gen: Fred, Bobby, Ann, Bob (quasi-just strongly attached)Tina, John. 3rd gen: Amos. More than you asked for? Sorry, but it's hard to figure out where to stop where this family is concerned. Fran
  18. You WERE dropped off at the door, BUT we went and parked and then went in and got great seats up and stage right. I had my eyes on you the whole time. Well, not the whole time, 'cause as I remember the whole band was reaaaaaaal cute and I was only a young wife at the time. Katha (TeeTaa) you had to be between 11 and 14 because I was married to Charlie. Luke Hazzard's real name is John Schneider. Did anybody mention Good Times (Dynomite!)? Fran
  19. Good Morning, All; OK, yep, we invited 1000+ folks but this is the way I figure it: there are four women, that means four bosses. So we have to have a big shindig so we'll each have our own empire. But we must keep in mind that there is only one queen mother and as she sometimes reminds us "I'm still the Mama." And our response is "ok". Take care everybody, look for the sun. Fran

And you thought I really meant that adorable family?! Go figure. Afterall, Hooter's is a big customer of the company I work for. Fran

    New Photo

As Dozier's 21 yr. old bachelor cousin noticed, he wore a different Hooter's shirt in each photo. They are all pretty special and mean the world to me and the rest of the whole family. I think there's another beach trip in the works for sometime in August....May I go, TBone? Love you, Fran (namesake aunt to that little girl stage right-Anna Frances!)
  22. Shellie; Take care and take time for yourself. This comes from one that was wigging big time during a divorce and not handling things as those that had always relied on me expected me to (calm down, Vivi, TeeTaa, TBone-not talking about family-just everybody else in B.V.) So I did the only thing I could think of to save myself. I bolted. I concentrated on me and what I had to do. Ridded myself of some of the responsibility. Now, I'm basically back to my old self if not a new and improved version. At least I think I am. As I told Mama during that decision, I've put everybody else first for 45 yrs, now it's my turn. So, My Friend, it is your turn. The sun is gonna come up tomorrow-it may be cloudy and difficult to see, but it is there. Put on your sunscreen and sunglasses and enjoy it. I'm just on the other side of this computer if you need to talk. Fran
  23. I guess I need to bring home that gross of paper plate straw thingees that I found when unpacking! We really would love to "surprise" Terry with some of you. But Ginger has let the cat out of the bag. I was gonna private message some of you. Nuska, just where in Alabama do you live? We're just 30 miles from the Alabama border. Hope some of you can make it! Fran P.S. Did you mean "roast" Terry?
  24. Thanks to all of you for the concern and well wishes for today's situation and for Terry's birthday. Ann just called from Mama's and she said that he's sleeping right now so she went to bring Mama up to date. All the kids are out of the house right now so maybe he'll get some rest to get ready for his party next weekend. Wish some/all of y'all could come. Preliminary plans are to play in the pond and cook something (probably lots of lots of somethings). I hear Terry is issueing requests: wants night game tickets for him and the boys right behind the dugout for a Braves game. Hmmmm, come to think of it, I'd like one, too! But I'm gonna sit between my nephews so they can keep the foul balls from hitting me. Again, thanks for your thoughts, concerns and words of support and cheer. We'll keep y'all posted. Fran
  25. Thanks for all the concern, Folks. I have no excuse other than moving into a newly purchased home and unpacking and unpacking and unpacking....... I'm sure this Florida trip will perk Bone up. And walking on the beach is always therapeutic. Everybody take care, Fran (Teacake)
