    Diabetic Cat

Cheers to you as well. I have a friend that has to give her cat, Seymour, a shot each morning. He gets better for a while, gets off the shot routine, then has to go back on it. Weird thing though is that her other cat, Nittney, is very belligerent with Seymour when his sugar is out of whack. My theory is that Seymour's body gives off ketone bodies and Nittney can smell it and it is something different, thus the erratic behavior. More info than you asked for probably. Have a great new year, All. Fran
  4. Katha has Angie's number I believe. I'll check with her tomorrow when they return from the mountains and see if she's talked with Angie lately. Fran

    Good Luck Katha!

Katha didn't get trampled. She was nursing a cold Saturday and still when I talked with her Monday. But I'm sure she'll check in and give an update. Fran (Teacake)
  6. Good Morning, LCSC Family; Came on the boards this morning to check in and see how folks are doing. Didn't realize that I was drawn here for several reasons until I read several posts including Dean Carl's and Karen's and Cindy Oh's. 1) Terry (TBone) came out of a recovery program 1 yr ago this week. He was undiagnosed at this point. That happened Christmas Eve. 2) Yesterday was Ann's birthday (Terry's wife). 3) Tomorrow is their anniversary. 4) Daddy died 30 years ago today from lung cancer. 5) Terry and I had some very rough times his last year with us and I'm not dealing with that very well. As TeeTaa said in an earlier post, I'm running away. Dean, thanks so much for your words of wisdom. Terry missed his 1 year anniversary by 19 days but did receive his AA chip from the representatives from the recovery program that participated in his funeral. Karen, Terry lashed out at me and I don't know that I'll ever get beyond it. Also, I can remember Mama saying that when Daddy was sick he told her that if she had cooked him a green vegetable he wouldn't have gotten cancer. (Now, you gotta understand, this woman COOKED for Daddy and us. Full meals. In earlier days, Daddy was home only every other weekend or so due to his job and would get home sometimes 2:00-3:00 in the morning and she would either warm supper up 'cause she had expected him earlier or would cook a full breakfast. So I don't think the vegetables were the culprits. Could have had something to do with the 2 packs of Camels a day he smoked for about 30 years.) Cindy, I'm so sorry about your sisters. I cannot imagine being in this world and not having mine plus another brother to depend on. I encourage you to try to talk to them. They probably need you as much as you need them. Everybody, thanks so much for being here today. I know I've only posted frivolous stuff in the recent past but that is just how I deal with things. But believe that I care deeply for each and everyone of you. I'm going home now, down to Mama's, gonna give a few hugs. And gonna make those nieces and nephews (teenagers) hug me back. They will appreciate that some day..... Have a great Turkey Day. Get as stuffed as the bird. Fran (aka Teacake)
  7. That kitty looks like a Scottish Fold (notice the ears). I used to have one of these and her registered name was.......drum roll please....................... Folda Meier. I even got a note from the registration folks at Cat Fancier's Association about how cute that name was. Fran
  8. A pointed shovel, please. This red Georgia clay is really hard.... Fran
  9. Our cousin "Little Randy". That's all I've ever heard him referred to. Agewise, he was between Terry and me and died when he was 3. And Mama Hall died of cancer. Also, Murray Smith. F
  10. And here I was worried about you with all those girl kids with John out of town and you're on the computer! I'll worry no more. Give Abs a hug and kiss goodnight and Happy Birthday for me.... Well, you've all heard "OnStar" and "BlondeStar"..well I have "BobStar". I was driving back to Atlanta from Nashville today and got stopped in traffic due to a fatal accident. We were all diverted off the interstate and then not told how to get anywhere. So you've got all these lost folks trying to figure it out. So I called Bob on my phone and he got on-line, I told him where I was and he directed me south to the next exit/entrance to the interstate! Certainly was comforting hearing his voice as I was traveling through some not so great parts of town. Y'all take care, Fran
  11. Katha, Do you want me to tell them or do you want to tell them about all of us forgetting your name when we were singing Happy Birthday to You one year! Too funny. Not a one of us came up with "Katha". I think everybody just kind of hummed something. But we still loved you.... Fran
  12. In a recent Channel 2 news broadcast, (Houston, Texas ) it was announced that Lorena Bobbitt's sister Louella was arrested for an alleged attempt to perform the same act on her husband as her famous sister had done several years ago. Sources reveal the sister was not as accurate as Lorena. "She allegedly missed the target and stabbed her husband in the upper thigh causing severe muscle and tendon damage. The husband is reported to be in serious, but stable condition, and Louella has been charged with a misdewiener!"

    One word...

Oh, Wow! Sitting in a hotel room checking on folks and truly spoke those words out loud to the empty room when I read your post. But you should've written it like this: C L E A R Be happy, Becky, and thanks for sharing. Fran
  14. I'll be sending some favorite family recipes. TeeTaa, Vivi and I will have to coordinate so you don't get duplicates or triplicates, though. The cookbook company may be able to accept the recipes electronically. This would certainly be easier on everyone, at least me, and I would think for them as well because they are certainly using some sort of software to format the cookbook. Hey, Sisters! I think you both should make that cake for your daughters' birthdays next week. Fran
  15. Excommunication is when I have to correspond with Charlie or Don..... Fran
  16. Katha, For some reason I know that Shirley is from Tyrone (Fayette County) which should narrow the phone calls down some. BTW, Tyrone is where Aunt Gretel and Uncle Loy lived. Fran
  17. Snowflake; You are one talented wordsmith and I love it. I'll volunteer my time and 94 words per minute to format the recipes for the cookbook. Katha, put the lchelp table next to mine at the HE and I'll help "man" the booth. And I'll try to talk Ms. Mary into giving me some of the silk florals for the lchelp booth. My booth at the HE is "M'ambow" since I make really pretty bows for wreaths, etc. I've previously made approximately 50 blue bows for this school when they won some award and some of these women know that Katha's sister made them so maybe I can get some sales out of it. (wow, rambling sentence!) Anyway, if any of y'all need bows for the Holiday season, just let me know. You can send me your ribbon or I'll get it. I won't charge y'all unless I have to buy the ribbon and then only the cost of the ribbon. Your friend tied in knots, Franbow
  18. Y'all probably don't need to be told this, but I'm in for the Holiday Extravaganza. We just don't know how to say "no" when a sister has an idea! And I love the cookbook idea. And I may even let go of THE teacake recipe. Fran (aka Teacake) Kickin it up!
  19. Hi, James; Not much to add except ASK ANY AND ALL QUESTIONS! Knowledge is power and you can get real powerful listening to some of these folks. Welcome to the lchelp family and to your sidebar family....I'm another of Katha's sisters (yep there are four sisters). And I love acquiring "adopted" nieces and nephews so consider yourself one. All you have to do is call, e-mail or private message and one of us Hall girls will be there. Fran
  20. So very saddened by this news. Please take care and know that you are being thought of. Fran
  21. What an inspiration he was and will continue to be. Sincerest sympathy for his family. Fran
  22. Ry, Maybe his fine should be a picture of himself with Lance Armstrong! As I bet his next venture will be the Tour de France next year... Fran

    Make-up Question

Oh, the mention of particle board made me respond with this anecdote. During college while working on a Biology/Chemistry degree, I worked for one of the largest producers of particle board running formaldehyde emission tests for the government to establish "acceptable" levels. This was a three month study. ALL MY EYELASHES FELL OUT! Also, I had never had hay fever or suffered from any allergies prior but now have a hell of a time with them. I quit. And the eyelash story went into my last report. I often wondered what all the insides of all those guys looked like. I was the only female that worked in the back and surmised that it may have been a reaction with my makeup since the men had their eyelashes. Fran P.S. They grew back thicker, though!
  24. For that post and the inspiration if conveys, I bestow the honorary title: The Dean of Philosophy and What It's All About. Three cheers for The Dean! Hip Hip Hooray! Hip Hip Hooray! Hip Hip Hooray! Fran

    needin' prayers

Katha, I responded to your e-mail to the family but just wanted to reiterate that I'm here for you and John in whatever capacity you need me. No speeches, just this: you made Terry's last few months so much better just by being with him and loving him unconditionally. You were his rock and his love for you was so evident whenever those big blue eyes turned to you. I was so worried for you when you first told me about Jack because I felt that you were going get drowned in dealing with both. But you seemed to get a handle on it. In fact, I think I gave you a big sister talk along those lines. Selfishly, I was glad that you were able to segregate the situations and focus on Terry as you and he both needed that. So, don't bash yourself, Little Sister. You've been a saint and have earned a star. (I won't say halo 'cause I know some other stuff you've done through the years.....) Love you, Fran
