  3. UCLA Department of Psychiatry has revealed that the kind of face on a man that a woman finds attractive can vary depending on where she is in her menstrual cycle. For example: if she is ovulating, she is attracted to men with masculine, rugged features. However, if she is menstruating or menopausal, she tends to be more attracted to a man with a spear lodged in his chest and tape over his mouth while he is on fire.
  4. gee Gin, Hard to know. But, I tell ya, I have had the strangest body things come and go and stay around and feel like yuck and etc.... At my chemo introduction, the nurses told me that in the future and long after treatment had passed, that I would have strange things happen with my body (it's just a shell) and that I could blame all weird happenings on the chemo I was about to receive. So, if nothing shakes out for you, maybe you can blame it on the chemo. Cindi o'h
  5. Welcome Cindy, Keep up the great work. I know you have been approved for a second opinion and I just want to second that. Or even third! Most important is correct staging so that proper treatment is delivered. Sounds like you are questioning and sounds like there is reason. Never heard of that clinic in TX. Why do you ask about it? WE are here for you and your Mom. Cindi o'h
  6. Don, Very sad to read your words this morning. Lucie was the most gracious fighter ever. She helped more than she knew. Cindi o'h

    Jimben

oh so sorry. So sad. jimben was a hero to so many. He had a calming voice for my little pal, Justakid, when it seemed no one else could calm her fears. A couple of us knew something was up. I have had a message in my outbox to him. But, I really didn't want to find out that he was gone, I guess. Even though he was short in stature, he was a big man with a huge heart. I miss him already. luv, Cindi
  8. hi Candy, sounds like fair advice. I had the talc procedure done for a build-up of chyle in the pleural space due to radiation damage somewhere in the chyle drain area. I didn't have any cancer cells in there. While the surgeon was in there, I asked him to take a look around the best he could and snip off anything that looked funny. He said he would. But, he didn't find anything. Whew! Now this was all about 2 years after I had chemo/radiation. I was in the hospital for a week. The first day was rough. After that it got better and better. I was sent home after the drain tube was out but the "hole" was still draining. (yuck!) It started to close up pretty quickly. The procedure the surgeon used was the VATS technique. I think there were 2 holes punched in my side between the ribs. One for the scope and the other for his instruments. So, the good thing is he didn't have to slice me wide open. There are things that can go wrong during the procedure. Most of the time it's a piece o'cake. Seems as if this will be the best route for her to take. Now, rather than later. Very good luck. Any questions, I will try to help. But, there is a big difference in that I didn't have malignant cells there. I don't know the complications of that. Cindi o'h
  9. Hi Betty, I had severe radiation burns with my treatment. Ask your doc if you can use systemic anti-inflammatories such as prednisone or NSAIDS. Ask for a special appointment with a nurse to give you specifics on wound care. You do not have radiation recall. That is a phenom. that occurs after radiation treatments are finished. Hence the name, "recall". You have radiation burns. Cindi o'h
  10. The treat would be someone that looks alot like "The Rock" complete with smile and all. The trick? Well...this is a public forum isn't it. Cindi o'h (Annie roo, you know what I'm talkin' about)
  11. So glad for her rally, Don. Cindi o'h
  12. Tears for her, you and the kids, Lori. She was somebody very special to you and to all of us here. You were the best daughter right up to the end. Hugs, girl. Cindi o'h
  13. For your Mom who will be undergoing treatments at a distance, I would suggest you shop around for the best long distance calling plan for you. Secondly there is a website called, http://sharethecare.org that has THE best tips on how to accomplish caring from a group when it is not possible for you to be there. It is an invaluable asset to your dilema. So sorry about your Mom's diagnosis. We will help anyway we can. Cindi o'h

    Job Issue

Joanie. The SSD people have their own underwriters and do not rely on your doctor's opinion as privately funded insurance companies may. Try so hard not to wrestle with the outcome or second-guess yourself. It is very self-defeating. Do the steps and go through the motions without worrying about the results. They will be what they will be. I am positive that you will be more than eligible. Sweetness to you, and long live bulgogi and white russians! Cindi o'h

    Job Issue

Joanie. I have lots to say. The most important thing I will say, if you will listen this time, then I won't be wasting my words again.... Apply for SSDI NOW! (Monday) dammit. with tons of tough love, Cindi o'h
  17. Hi Patscan, As the queen of SOB, I can tell you that there are so many things by themselves or in combo that can be causing the SOB. How bad is it? Is she able to walk to the kitchen without losing her breath? Able to toilet? Is she able to sleep comfortably? How is her heart? Some of us have pericardial effusions along with pleural effusions. Sometimes there are infections. I see this it seems esp. with sclc. How large was the effusion? Keep asking questions. We are here to help. Don't be afraid of another ER visit if her SOB is more than uncomfortable. Cindi o'h

    Exhausted

Yes, Joanie. One day at a time. Don't put undue expectations on yourself. Do as little as you feel. Your poor little body needs time and all strength to heal. We love you, Joanie! Cindi o'h
  19. Welcome, Ned. Any questions or concerns we are here to try to help. Cindi o'h
  20. Melinda, so very sorry to read this news. Cindi o'h
  21. Prayers and love for the whole Wood family, Don. Cindi o'h
  22. Yep. flippity flops. Like a crappie flipping on the floor of an ice shanty, right? The more you concentrate on them, the worse they seem to get? Horrid feeling. Just horrid. I will be surprised if the results are other than stress/anxiety induced. Cindi o'h
