Fay A. Posted November 15, 2004 Posted November 15, 2004 I hate it when that happens...... Couldn't do the FNA biopsy of the axilla lymph nodes, so my efforts to enroll in the GVAX trial were brought to a screeching halt. Now I have to try to find something else that appears promising. But before I do that I'm going to take some time off to adjust to this latest set back (Like about 2 weeks so I can put together a memorable Thanksgiving Dinner, and recover from THAT.) Quote
Andrea Posted November 15, 2004 Posted November 15, 2004 Oy vey! Just what you need another setback. But I admire your fighting attitude!!! You are awesome! Quote
Snowflake Posted November 15, 2004 Posted November 15, 2004 Ahhhh...food is ALWAYS part of the cure.... Fay, sorry for the flippin' setback. I hope you see something even better soon! Enjoy your break, take out the stress on your mashed taters like I do - creamiest ones in the county, I swear! Take care, Becky Quote
Lisa O Posted November 15, 2004 Posted November 15, 2004 I am so sorry. Can't they take the darn node out? Grrrrrrrrr..... Happy Thanksgiving! Quote
-Cheryl- Posted November 15, 2004 Posted November 15, 2004 Fay, They are starting a vacinne here named TGF Beta2, made with other people's cancerous tumors. The one here probably won't start till Jan. sometime. Sorry to hear about the Gvax tial. Cheryl Quote
karen335 Posted November 15, 2004 Posted November 15, 2004 Fay, I'm sorry to read this. Can you or do you want to share why they couldn't do the biopsy. Lot's of prayers coming your way. Have a very memorable Thanksgiving. Please keep us posted... God Bless, Hugs and many Prayers. Karen Quote
BeckyCW Posted November 16, 2004 Posted November 16, 2004 Fay, I'm sorry to hear this! I hope the holiday cooking will indeed give you a much-needed little break before you go back to looking for the next thing to do. I admire your spirit! BeckyCW Quote
TAnn Posted November 16, 2004 Posted November 16, 2004 Fay, UUUUUGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!! These bumps in the road are endless on this journey called cancer, aren't they??? Wishing you the best Thanksgiving ever and hoping you can find something that will work for you! TAnn Quote
Connie B Posted November 16, 2004 Posted November 16, 2004 POOP!!!! I guess cooking a wonderful dinner is important as well. I'm sorry that the trial didn't work out for you my dear. Get your strength back and have at it again!! ((((FAY A))))) Quote
Fay A. Posted November 16, 2004 Author Posted November 16, 2004 The radiologist stated that she could see the nodes on the CT scan done this morning, but that when she tried to locate them with the ultrasound in order to do the biopsies she could't find them. She also stated that she felt I had a "rotator cuff problem" and should have that evaluated by an orthopedic. I had FNA biopsy of multiple tumors in my lung (a tad more difficult to access site than my flipping armpit, don't you think?), so the idea that the nodes could not be accessed just doesn't sound right to me. I'm not a doctor, but I've had my chain yanked a few too many times not to be concerned that the sound I hear is clanking. Cheryl, thanks for the info on the other tumor vaccine trial. I will be checking into that one as well. Would you private message me with contact information on that one? Thanks in advance. I am not giving up. Ever. Quote
stand4hope Posted November 16, 2004 Posted November 16, 2004 Rats! Rats! Rats! Well, until you come up with a solution, Fay, I agree with Snowflake - food can be good therapy. I've had some stress this week and last night ate a bowl of ice cream with chocolate syrup, a huge burrito today for lunch, w/two scoops of sour cream, and three of those small Hershey's chocolates - and I'm supposed to be the leader of The Getting Smaller Club! Ha! Not yesterday and today. The food therapy works until you have to get on the scales. Sigh - better get back to it tomorrow! You hang in there, girlfriend. I love your spunk! Love, Peggy Quote
David P Posted November 16, 2004 Posted November 16, 2004 Way to go Fay!! Is there a second opinion on the near horizon? Hope you have a very full Thanksgiving. Take care. David p. Quote
Kaffie Posted November 16, 2004 Posted November 16, 2004 What a bummer on that trial! Hope you can find another better trial, you will, very positive thinking going on in my head Take care and cook your little heart out on Turkey Day. kathy Quote
SJAS Posted November 16, 2004 Posted November 16, 2004 Just got home late from work and popped on for a couple of minutes. Darn what a frustration. Your determination is awesome! Quote
Nushka Posted November 16, 2004 Posted November 16, 2004 Fay, This is the pits. I wish you a wonderful thanksgiving and a delicious meal. After that is done...why not try to find someone else that will try the biopsy? It doesn't quite feel right that they can't biopsy it, although I have to admit I am not a doctor, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night. Keep that fighting spirit! Nina Quote
karenl Posted November 20, 2004 Posted November 20, 2004 Fay Sorry to be coming in late on this. I have just seen your post. I am so sorry to hear about this latest hurdle - you just need to take a longer run-up and I know you will be over it!! Please keep us posted on the other options you are pursuing. Love Karen Quote
mayos Posted November 23, 2004 Posted November 23, 2004 I'm also pulling for better news for you soon Fay. Have a "Happy Turkey Day" with the family......then come back to kick the rear ends of anyone getting in your way!! Quote
Melinda Posted November 24, 2004 Posted November 24, 2004 Fay-- I'm sorry I'm late to respond--I haven't had much time to log on recently. I am so darn frustrated for you. I want you to get a major break sometime soon! In the interim, however, all I can do is tell you that I, too, am rooting for you and that I hope you have a truly lovely Thanksgiving. Melinda Quote
