  1. ((((Peggy)))) You and Mike are definitely on my prayer list. Please know that I love you and my heart reaches out to you!
  2. Are you a forgiving person? Is there anyone in your life that you need to forgive right now? If so, what is your game plan for doing so?

    Ernesto Woes.....

Thanks for all the prayers and good wishes. Fortunately, Ernesto was merely a tropical depression when it passed our way. We got a lot of well needed rain and a bit of wind but everything is fine in my area. I believe Muriel's part of the state did alright also. Hopefully, this will be the only one for the season!

Hooray for Ginny!!! What a great inspiration and friend she has been to all of us! Keep those posts coming, Ginny. We love hearing from you.
  5. OMG...forgot to even mention my animals. It's just a given that I would go no where without them.
  6. I have a really tight locking Rubbermaid tub that I have ready to throw stuff in in case a storm comes this way. Last night, I put in my photo albums, important papers and a change of clothes and a toothbrush. If I have to run, that box is what I'll grab. If I can't grab it, the contents will stay dry and float to safety!!!

    Ernesto Woes.....

Well, it looks like the east coast of central Florida may not be the greatest place to be during hurricane season. Charlie, Frances and Jeanne all visited us in 2004. Wilma breezed by last year and now we have Ernesto knocking at our door. The latest tracking shows Ernesto coming right over my area (Brevard County) as he makes his way back out into the Atlantic. The forecasters are calling for 50-60 mph winds here with lots of rain. Please remember us and say a little prayer. Karen (Karhart) also lives in the same area, so make sure and remember her.
  8. Let's play pretend today. Let's pretend that you all live here in the "sunshine state" of Florida, like me. A hurricane is barreling down and you have been told to evacuate. You can only take 3 things with you. What would you take?

    Update..mother passed

So very sorry for your loss.
  10. What's the last movie you saw in a theatre?
  11. Very good information to post. I am making copies of this today and passing it on to several cancer patients that live nearby. As of this morning, my area is right in the path of Ernesto.
  12. Larry, I feel the same frustrations that you do and hope someday all cancers will be treated equally and funding to find a cure shared. I do know that there is now more LC info in the news because of some of the prominent people that have been diagnosed. The press is a very powerful tool and we need them on our side to help spread the alarming statistics and information about lung cancer.
  13. I haven't heard any more from her either. I sent her a PM after her last post but haven't had a reply. I'm praying that things have improved for her.
  14. Lori, I just want you to know that I am thinking of you and my heart is breaking for this difficult time you are going through. I'm remembering you and your mom in my prayers. You are a very brave gal. There have been so many things through this journey that you doubted you would be able to do. Guess what? You were able to handle each and every obstacle with bravery because of the deep love you have for your mother. Lori, I know this is hard but I have faith in your love and strength!
  15. Christy, I really like it! Like Kasey, I don't know if my pain threshold is high enough for this! You're one brave gal...with a great looking tatoo!!!

    "Weekend Wipe Out?"

(((((((((((((((Paddy)))))))))))))) I know how you feel. Like others, I seemed to be fine during the week and would then fall to pieces on the weekend. I so missed the things Dennis and I used to do together. I just felt like half of me was missing...and it was. Katie had some great ideas, as she ususlly does. If your town is anything like mine, there is always some event going on during the weekends that need volunteers. This is a great way to get out and to make new friends. I know there are a lot of people in your same situation, feeling the same way you do. If there's not a support group in your area, I think you're the perfect person to start one. Starting a support group requires the ability to have compassion, understanding and be a great listener. Paddy, I know you have all of those characteristics. Give it some thought???
  17. Ginny....I always love the way you think!!!
  18. I would toss my Showtime Rotissiere that set me back $169.00. Why in the world would I want to get this thing out and fight with it to roast a chicken that I can buy cooked for $1.99 at the grocery? Plus...regardless of the claims they make, cleanup is not fast and easy. Also, when I put a chicken on this thing and tie the legs up with string, it seems one of them always manages to flop out of the string and then I have a real mess. So, moral of the story is is that I could buy a lot of cooked chickens for $169.00 and never have the mess. But that's what I get for being an appliance junkie.
  19. A man feared his wife was not hearing as well as she used to, and he thought she might need a hearing aid. Not quite sure how to approach her, he called the family doctor to discuss the problem. The doctor told him there is a simple informal test the husband could perform to give the doctor a better idea about her hearing loss. "Here's what you do," said the doctor "Stand about 40 feet away from her and in a normal conversational speaking tone see if she hears you. If not, go to 30 feet, then 20 feet, and so on until you get a response." That evening, the wife is in the kitchen cooking dinner, and he was in the den. He says to himself, "I'm about 40 feet away. Let's see what happens." In a normal tone he asks, "Honey, what's for dinner?" No response. So the husband moves to closer to the kitchen, about 30 feet from his wife, and repeats, "Honey, what's for dinner?" Still no response. Next he moves into the dining room where he is about 20 feet from his wife and asks, "Honey, what's for dinner?" Again, no response.. So, he walks up to the kitchen door, about 10 feet away. "Honey, what's for dinner?" Again, there is no response. So he walks right up behind her. "Honey, what's for dinner?" (I just love this.) "Earl, for the 5th time, CHICKEN!"
  20. Denise, it is so very good to hear from you. Like others, I can't believe that two years have passed already. I think you have a wonderful plan in mind for Monday. I know the day will be difficult for you but I'm sure you have many happy memories to fall back on! Please keep in touch, as you are missed.
