  5. Hi Diane and Welcome. I am so sorry that you are feeling so bad! Can I ask why you went off your antidepressants? Many of us have started on antidepressants once we were told we have lung cancer. A lung cancer diagnosis is so very scary it turns your world upside down. Have you considered hopping back on the medication? I also wanted to share a little bit of my history with you - I was diagnosed with Adenocarcinoma in March 2004 - 4+ years ago. I was staged at IIIa and I had my left lung removed within weeks. I had 22 lumph nodes removed and 21 were positive for cancer. After the lung removal, I had pretty heavy chemo including 3 different drugs and radiation to my chest for 30 days. I won't say that the road was always easy, but you can tell you I have enjoyed many life milestones along the way that I am grateful for. I am sending you a great big cyber hug and hope that you start feeling better soon. Wendy I hope you begin to feel better soon.

  16. Grrr, sorry to hear about the latest development. I hope things better quickly so you can take your trip!! I am a little late jumping in here, but I want to give you a different perspective from my Alaskan Cruise I took 2 years ago. The state is absolutely magnificent and breathtaking - no doubt about it. I found that the air quality, perfumes, aftershave, damp cold weather really was exhausting and sufficating though. In Ketchican I was unable to breath because the air was so humid and the tour buses exhaust hung on the ground. In Juno I took a smaller boat to shore and could hardly breath because of the exhaust stayed in the boat. The boat I was on was huge 3,000 people and that was way too many. In the evenings when everyone dressed up for dinner/shows - I felt suffocated by the perfumes/aftershaves. Last but not least they told the passengers to hot cover their mouth when they coughed because it could pass the germs on throughout the boat - Yikes, I had one lung, compromised immune system and people hacking all over the back of my head. The elevators were always tide up so huffing in on the stairs was a treat too. Wait in line, wait in line, wait in line....Anways I am sure you get the picture. If I didn't have breathing issues I am sure I would have enjoyed the trip much better. We took the cruise in the 3rd week of August. My vote is to southern california. The area is beautiful, the coast stunning and the weather is mild without alot of humidity.

  21. Welcome David! I was initially staged IIIa 4 1/2 yrs ago Adenocarcinoma. Fast forward..... 2 1/2 yrs ago I had 2 bone mets and was pushed to stage iv. Your history is very interesting. I participated in the Iressa maintenance trial back in 2005 and it is interesting to see how other people faired after being treated with Iressa. I am currently on Tarceva and Avastin together. I started on the 2 drugs January of 2005 and remained on both (along with Zometa) for 1 year. My cancer had disappeared on this treatment regimen within 6 weeks of starting it. After the 1st year, we stopped the Avastin & Zometa and I remained on Tarceva daily. This January I had a new met on my spine and we added the Avastin back in and I have had a good response with this treatment again. It is pretty amazing how each of responds differently to the drug combos. I thank you for posting your experiences and giving some of us newer diagnosed stage iv's hope!! I hope you continue with many more years of survivorship!! Wendy - 4.5 yr survivor adeno
  22. Deb, My deepest sympathy. Prayers to you and yours, Wendy
