My husband Alan had WBR and had very good success. Almost 2 years since it ended. Lost his hair and does have some sort term memory issues, but other than that lives very good quality of life. I hope and pray all goes well for you.

I tell my real age, I am happy that I have made it to another birthday. I actually love my birthday as it is all about me By the way I am 44 Alan on the other hand hates his birthday and would like to put his head under the covers and pretend it never happened. So he avoids the subject of age at all costs. (Alan is 60 )

Yes I would say something, my girlfriends and I have no issues with being honest with eachother.

Dar, My husband Alan had a 3.0cm x 3.5cm brain met that when found was starting to crush his brain stem. that was almost 2 years ago. Alan continues to live a very high quality of life. Many prayers for your mom.

When Alan had his 1st PET Scan his dr. very carefully worded the order. It appears that PET scans for SCLC can be denied. I believe the cost for Alan's was about $4,000 I would have to look at the EOB.

Kelly, I am so very sorry, I did not see your post regarding your beautiful brave mom until this morning Your Mom's battle was an inspiration to me and I know she is no longer fighting the beast and is without pain. My prayers go out to you and your family.

sorry your mom is going through this Alan had the same problem. Anything COLD seem to really increase the pain, so ice cream was out of the question for him. Cool or room temp was about all Alan could tolerate. Nothing too hot or cold and very soft food only. It all eventually passed with time. I hope your mom bounces back soon. -
like Geri it depends on how critical the call is. If I am calling a Government office I just plan for the wait to be very long

When Alan has his WBR sleep was about the only thing he felt up to. So that is what he did, sleep. He eventually returned to his daily activities once treatment ended.
