  1. Today I am really tired because I have been working 12-14 hour days (plus school started on Tuesday night)
  2. Weekdays it's up shower and get dressed. Week-ends I could be in my comfy sweats all day (espicailly during college football season which is just 10 days away )
  3. Although Alan developed brain mets, the radiation therapy he received to his tumor (IMRT) was very successful. Alan has now survived SCLC for more than 2.5 years. The treatments keep getting better and there is continued hope. I think he would have had PCI if it were an option. Jen praying for your dad!!!!
  4. Well seeing I do not cook and want this to be a successful pot luck I will bring my famous chips and onion dip
  5. Show Me the Money and I am a dancing fool
  6. Ann, I am with you, in fact I went a played for about 5 hours last week-end. It's poker for me
  7. I would be Pocohantas, I could still be outside and get dirty
  8. Alan and I are both Right handed
  9. Mary, As your mom's profile is not posted I am going to assume, based on your post this is all very new for you. So take it from a 2.5 year "veteran" when I say, the new noraml will just happen. You can't force the issue, but believe it or not within the next few months or so it will just happen. You and your mom will find a rythum that works, and the next thing you know your new normal has arrived. Unfortunatley they do not hand over a Caregiver handbook when our loved ones are DX. We are thrown into a whirlwind, and you just hope to land somewhat on your feet. I was lucky in I could change my work schedule around alan's treatments and hospital stays, and as of right now he is once again stable, so I feel as if I am on a cancer break. I also understand how you feel about work, my job used to mean so much to me, now it is something that takes me away from Alan. Ok I rambled on much longer than I should have. Please send me a PM if you want to. Prayers for you and your mom.
  10. Pacific Coast Highway is only 5 miles from Alan and I. Just as the name states, the road runs along the pacific ocean. very beautiful and relaxing drive.
  11. Bobby, I am very sorry to read Bev's cancer is back. I pray the new treatment will knock the heck out of the cancer. Please hold on to hope and not too much into the statistics you are reading. My continued prayers for the both of you.
  12. I'm with Gail, neither. I would love to afford someone who would just come to do the cooking and cleaning up after. However, if I had to choose between the 2, I would rather clean up. Much less pressure for everything to be just right.
  13. Like Kasey I was pretty good at not getting caught I have confessed some of my wrong doings to my mom, now that I am an adult and she lives across the country
  14. I Had just graduated college and trying to figure out what the heck I was going to do with the rest of my life
  15. I'll start by buying Donna a Happy Birthday drink, so Kasey set her up. Still too early for an Odouls so I will start with coffee. I please need the Pub crowd to say prayers for my friend Diane who had a biopsy on a lump in her breast yesterday Now turn the game on and lets see who Fred tosses out first
  16. Hi Wealthy, As you know Alan is the radiation pro. Alan had IMRT on his brain met. IMRT can direct percise beams doing much less damage to healthy cells. As you know Alan had great success with IMRT. I do not know much about the other radiation treatments you mentioned. I will keep you both in my prayers that the treatment zaps the crap out of the tumor.
  17. Laurie, Alan has never had the chemo you mentioned, but radiation was successful for the lymph node above his collar bone. Continued prayers coming your way.
  18. Rhonda, There are many things I love about Alan's Drs, but the most important issue was not one of them ever told Alan his disease was incurable. Now the never said it was curable either, but what is not said can be just as important as what is said. As you can read in Alan's profile he has a few major set backs, but 2.5 years after DX he is enjoying a pretty good life. If necessary find another Dr. Best wishes to your family.
  19. When the Jackpots get real big I will usually by $5 worth of quick picks, but have never even been close to winning
  20. Gail, I am very sorry about the loss of Jake. I lost my cat Lucky this past Nov to cancer of all things. I miss her very much, and even though a new kitten just recently entered our lives, I will never forget my Lucky girl.
  21. I will bring chips and onion dip. I please need to request that the bar stock Odouls for us ex-drinkers who still like a cold bottle in our hands Looking forward to the Grand Opening. Oh almost forgot Alan will have a 7&7.
