Thanks for that, Rich. Just the reminder I needed to take a deep breath, ignore the e-mails that are waiting to be answered, and enjoy a bag of Famous Amos chocolate chip pecan cookies. Yum! Life is good.

Hi Sylvia,
I'm another IIIB who was ultimately unable to have surgery. Chemo and radiation seems to have done the trick for me though. Please tell your dad that surgery isn't the only option. Take care.

Hi Christine,
I'm so sorry to hear of your dad's new diagnosis. It just sucks that you and he have to go through the cancer thing again.
As far as your dad's doctor goes, trust your instincts. And perhaps you could have a conversation with him in private about possible treatment options.
Good luck. I wish nothing but the best for your dad.

Happy Birthday, Bucky, and I'm wishing for many, many more happy birthdays for you. Enjoy your family today and worry about those nagging feelings tomorrow.

Welcome, Mary. I'm so sorry to hear about your mom's diagnosis. You'll find lots of strength, knowledge and support here. Please keep us posted as your mom's treatment progresses. Sending prayers.

Welcome, Ray, and I'm very sorry to hear about your wife's diagnosis. But Connie is right -- there are lots of us who are not just surviving but are actually thriving. I hope treatment goes well for your wife. Please keep us posted.

My scalp also hurt when my hair was falling out. I found that I couldn't tolerate the heat wearing a wig created, so I opted for a half-wig and a baseball cap. I bought quite a few caps from a company called headcovers.com and was very happy with them -- they're designed for chemo patients.
The good news -- hair grows back! I've got short, curly hair for the first time in my life and I'm really enjoying it.
Good luck to your mom. I hope treatment goes very well for her.

Hi Barbara,
It took me about 5 months to feel "normal" again following chemo/rad. Don't rush yourself -- you don't want to undo all the good you've done with treatment. Take care of yourself and listen to your body.
