Annie, What type of chemo did Tim have and how may radiation treatments did he have. You said the tumor was on the pulmonary. Was it in the right or left lung? I was told I couldn't have surgery because the tumor was on the pulmonay and I had too much radiation along with taxol/carbo at the same time. The thorasic surgeon said it was a very delicate surgery and that my chances were 50/50 and that I probably would not make it home from the hospital. Then in his next breath said if I get tired of chemo treatments to give him a call. (??????) Confusing to me. Please let me know. Praying for all members on this board. You are truly a survivor, God Blessed you, he is so good to us. What state do you live in? I hope you don't mind me asking, what stage was the cancer, what type of chemo did you have and how long and how many treatments of radiation did you have? Did you have chemo and radiation at the same time and then have surgery or did you have surgery and then chemo and radiation. Also was it nsclc or sclc? Please keep us posted about how you are doing. Judy, I wish your mom a successful surgery and praying for a complete healing. You hang in there and keep the faith. Just believe and she will be healed. God is good. What state are you in? Did your mom have chemo and radiation. I noticed your post said 30 chemo treatments, did you mean radiation? What kind of chemo did she have and how many treatments. The reason I asked is because I was given 38 radiation treatments and was give 8 weekly treatments of Taxol/Carboplatin at the same time. Please post and let us know. Peggy, Yah Hoo!!!!! I am so glad they were able to give Bill Gemzar. Did you have a chance to ask the nurse about Alimta also. I hope this will work for Bill. Cheryl & Tammy, When I had my treatments (38 radiation and 8 carbo/taxol). I could not swallow and also the top of my stomach hurt. The doctor gave me Carafate and it helped. What it does is it coats the lineing of the esophagus and the stomach. It really helped me to be able to eat and drink. You take it about a half hour before you eat. You might want to ask your doctor about it. It doesn't make you sleepy either. Hope this helps Gos Bless and praying for a "Cure" By his stripes we are healed..... Karen

Peggy & Bill, Prayers have been said for you and your family. Your onc will come up with a new chemo. What about Gemzar and carboplatin. There is a new chemo called Alimta. I am not sure if it has been approved by the FDA, but it is on the same level as Taxotere, only it does not have the severe side effects that Taxotere does. There is a site that Hebbie, one of our members told us about. It is from The University of PA about a LC conference on August 11th, 2003. The site is: WWW.oncolink.com If you click on the conference it has about an hour of them speaking about new treatments for LC. It is worth viewing. I hope this will help in some way........
