    Crazy idea

It's not crazy--many of us have written to Oprah several times. Back with Peter jennings, again with Dana Reeeve. And both times when they were diagnosed and again when they died. I personally found myself a little angry with her. she had Dana Reeve on after Christopher Reeve died, and then I never saw another show after Dana's diagnosis or death. I wrote to Oprah and she didn't call me back And I write such nice letters too But go ahead Randy--give it your best shot gail

  4. I had BAC, which (I believe) is a form of NSCLC. My nodule was surgically removed, and while I was on the table they did a path. When it came back malignant, they removed the entire lobe. When I woke up from surgery they knew iit was BAC. Did they biopsy more then one nodule? BAC can be "multi follicular", so there is always the possiblity of more than one malignant nodule. Sorry for all that is happening. gail

  15. Glad you found us. And sorry you needed to. Keep reading the posts and let us know how you are doing. gail PS My only suggestion--if your boys are school aged, let the teachers know what is happening. I have been teaching a very long time and I always want to be available to help my children through traumas.

    Why I got so upset

Bless you my dear You always make me feel better. And I felt better today. One of the things of learned in my cancer journey is that some people just don't even belong on my radar screen. I couldn't ignore my feelings, but had to work through them. BTW--when did you turn 50? gail
  19. Caught 20/20 tonight and heard John Stossel's report "Stupid in America" -- of course about public education and how it is failing our children. The message boards under ABC are just filled with upset teachers and parents saying "Thank you" for exposing a bad system. and yes, I wrote a reply. 2 1/2 hours later I am still agitated and WIDE awake and it hit me. The upset reminded me of the lung cancer stigma. "Did you smoke" Feeling like I have to explain and justify my cancer, (which I didn't have to justify the breast cancer ) and after the program I felt I had to justify my profession. I couldn't figure out why I was so upset, but that is the link. My therapist would be proud. hugs to all gail

  21. I feel your pain--my sisters are my lifeline. I have a "20 year rule" that goes like this: 20 years from now what will I be glad I did? I say this because if you want to go see your sister GO and go now. thoughts go with you gail

    Moderators

I keep coming back because this place works for me. I have lived with cancer for 13 years, done several support groups, and found this is the one where I get the most support. Has it been hard? Sometimes yes, for sure. We have lost many special people, but I am always find myself feeling blessed for having known them, and that is without ever laying eyes on them. I have learned so much about living here. Cancer is a nasty disease, no doubt. I spent many many days in the depths of dispair. But this is the place, I have found, where my feelings are accepted no matter what. Two things also helped me personally with my lung cancer--anti depressents and a very good therapist who specializes in women's cancers. gail
