At my five year check up I took flowers for the front desk. I told them I was a five year supplier and they were very instrumental in helping me get there. They were very surprised and very touched.
When I left the appointment, I stopped at the desk and told them when people asked about the flowers to tell people a 5 year lung cancer survivor provided them.
This August was my next visit. I brought flowers for the front desk again, telling them the same thing.
When I left I asked to speak to the social worker and gave her our website. She has a lung cancer group but did not know what LUNGevity was!!! I found that a little scary, but reminded myself that she handles a lot of cancers.
I left my phone number with her as well.

I am on my second cup of morning coffee and went through these posts.
Linda, I feel your fire!!! I can hear your passion from here. You are on a roll and keep it up!!!
I was a smoker from 1974-1984 (college through single life) and quit BEFORE attempting pregnancy. Never went back. I was told if I quit after 10 years it would be like I never smoked.
When diagnosed in 2001 the surgeon called me a smoker. I was irate and clued him in. His answer was "you did smoke" And I reminded him I was a nonsmoker longer than I was a smoker.
Keep your train rolling

It was Ry's idea not mine!!
I would come to California and take you for a facial. It is tough to stay stressed when someone is rubbing your face for 30 minutes.
What is the nesting update?

When my lung cancer was found 5 years ago, another small nodule was also evident, and it shows up every now and then. My cancer was just 1 cm, and caught very early.
I will be going for a CT/PET scan in October to check on the lingering nodule. Apparently it is a new machine and is very good at diagnosing these small nodules that may not otherwise be seen.
In the meantime, try to keep busy. We live with the "Don't borrow trouble" theme here. Today you are fine!!

Yes, you are jumping, but that's okay.
I started having symptoms to October, they treated me for pneumonia, the nodule wasn't discovered until March, and surgery was in April.
Try, try, try to go one step at a time. Please???

Oh those gosh darned public schools!!!!
I am glad you all survived. And yes, I like what Connie said--once we have kicked some cancer butt, look out anybody else!!!
Remember too--my little guy was 7 with my first diagnosis and we are taking him out to start his JUNIOR year of college!!!
Enjoy!!!

Glad you finally got an answer.
I had a tooth pulled, and with an ativan and novacaine I was fine once it all wore off. Tooth pain is the worst.
good luck

All sounds good so far! I found my recovery went well because I rested a lot for the first 2 weeks and stuck with the pain meds pretty religiously then too. Waiting until you feel pain may be too late. I was off of all meds before my four week check up.
Let us know
