  1. I quit way long time ago (1984). I remember sitting in bars and focusing on all the people who WEREN'T smoking and still having a good time. A few times I sat with a paper napkin, folded it, and created snowflakes until the craving passed. Stick to your guns--you can do it. Prior to quitting, in the 10 years of my smoking I counted 5 days I hadn't smoked, and one of them was when I had major surgery . . . it's doable gail
  2. Hey girl!!! Last fall I actually cracked a rib from coughing so hard. It hurt like hell. You have to feel betteer so you can enjoy the Eagles!!! gail
  3. At one point I was on an anti-depressent AND an anti-anxiety med at the same time. And if I was having really down times i took an Ativan for immediate relief. I found anything by Dr. Bernie Siegel (Love, Medicine, and Miracles) really helped. He has meditation tapes that I listened to daily. Will she talk to anyone? I found a therapist who specialized in women and cancer, and I spent a LOT of time crying with her. Hope this helps gail
  4. Laughter is good. enjoy the party gail

    Gifts from Lucie

very sweet indeed. When my grandfather died almost 20 years ago, I brought home a shirt of his after the funeral. I kept it all these years, and gave it to my son when he went off to college. He actually appeared at a picnic last spring wearing the shirt. My mother, aunt, and uncle were all there, and I told them the story of the shirt. It was a very touching moment for all of us, even the 20 year old. They will love the gifts/ gail
  7. right there with you friends! 5 1/2 years and I find myself holding that shoe and wondering if this is the time it will drop. Which is probably why I am whining about the diet prior to the PET. Ben & Jerry's is usually my friend prior to CT scan day. gail
  8. Hugs and more hugs to you dear girl. Feel us all around you. gail
  9. I asked about the same thing when those reports first came out, maybe 2 years ago. My onc told me I still wouldn't be recommended for chemo. gail
  10. I am sure that is a load off of YOUR mind!!! You will have such a good time now. FYI, during my chemo 9 years ago, twice my 3 week chemo became 4 weeks because my counts were too low, and for some reason my onc didn't give the shots. I survived quite fine. gail PS I am not surviving now after staying up and watching the whole football game!
  11. Hey, I hope my son grows up to be like you!!! Since he was an only child, I saved EVERYTHING! Then one day I realized thst someday he would be forced to throw it all out, so I cut back on my savings. Absolutley put things in a box. I did that with some of my grandmorther's things. Years later I was able to get rid of some things that I couldn't do initially. gail
  12. Sorry for that news. I am a little surprised he diagnosed from the CAT scan. One step at a time. gail

  15. At my high points of anxiety, I try to tell myself not to give cancer one more minute of my time. I tell myslef not to let next week's test to interfere with this week. I don't want to spend THIS week worrying about NEXT week. Sounds good, but of course it doesn't always work. Prior to my lung surgery I was on an anti-anxiety med, and anti depressent, and an ativan for those over the top moments. Good wishes and good vibes gail
