  1. My son had his report presented to him today. Actually, the radiologist told him at the time of the scan yesterday that his liver and kidneys were all normal. So I did not attend the consultation. He is going to redo the blood test to see if his liver function numbers are still high. If they are, then the doc will monitor and do a blood test again in 6 months. I guess there is a possibility of iron defficiency. Thanks again for all your prayers and support everyone. No cancer. Don M
  2. Nancy: you and Mike have my continued prayers and support. Don M
  3. Dear Lenda: Please accept my condolences for the loss of your husband. In my opinion, there is nothing wrong with you for feeling the way you do and I think the doctors let you and your husband down. I hope you can eventually forgive them. For now, welcome to our message board. I hope you find some comfort here. Don M
  4. Amy: I developed a dry cough about 2weeks after surgery that has not gone away. I have had it for 2 months now. I have had no viral infections. Just one short head cold that never got into my lung. I have noticed in the last couple of weeks that when I bend over, I go onto a coughing fit. I thought I might have acid reflux because of the bending over symptom, but I don't think so now. I have been taking protonix for almost a week now, and still notice the urge to cough. And, I have had no feeling of indigestion. I told my onc about it last week, and he prescibed codeine to suppress the cough relex and the protonix just in case I had acid reflux. The codeine seems to help a lot. I take 1 or 2 in a 24 hour period. The last time I saw my pulmonologist, about 2 months ago, he said that the coughing was probably due to my lung getting stretched which causes an irritation and thus the cough. I would think that the coughing should stop after 2 months, but who knows? My onc says he will ask his pulmonolgist friends about it. If your mom's cough is lingering fromm the viral infection, I think she should check it out for bacterial infection as Connie said. I don't think there is any particular reason that having just one lung should cause her cough to linger. My cough is due more to mechanical reasons. I don't have any sort of infection. Don M

    Tumor Growth

I always wondered how long it took for my first tumor to grow. It was 4cm by 5.5 cm at removal in Jan 2004. Then as possibly as early as May 2004, another one began growing. It was 1.5 cm at removal in late Feb 2005. In August 2004, it was 9 mm. I had no chem or rad for the first one. Don M

  15. Hi Nancy: I would just like to say I hope your husband is feeling better. Hopefully he will acquiesce and go the the ER if the swelling is not down. I think I know how he feels though. Going to the ER is sort of like letting the disease make another claim on you. Don M

Thanks for your support and prayers everyone. I think it really does make a difference. Don M
  18. My second son, (the proud father of the baby I am holding in the avatar) had a fainting spell earlier this week. The reults of a blood test show high liver enzymes count of AST and ALT. He tested negative for hepatitis. He is having an ultrasound this Monday to look for lesions in his liver. He is a little scared. Please pray for him. I think I will ask him if I can go to the consultation with him on Tuesday. He is 25 years old. Don M
