  6. Hi Bunny: I agree with Deb that doubting your faith is all part of the package of emotions when you first start dealing with the uncertainties and fears that come when you find out that your loved one has cancer. Just be patient and let it wash over you. Things will get better as you talk to more people and begin to learn more about your mom’s cancer. Your mom’s situation is similar to mine. My cancer was found by accident in an early stage. I had the “curative operationâ€
  7. Congratulations Charlie. Don M
  8. Great news for Ken! Wow..2 primaries at once. It happens though. I have had 2 primarys, the second one came within a year of the first one. If I were Ken, I would ask for adjuvant chemo. I did not do it after my first primary, and possibly I could have averted the second primary if I had. Of course, I will never know for sure. I am doing chemo now. Don M
  9. Larry: please pass on my condolences to your wife. The only suggestion I can think of, and it may sound kind of stupid, is to ask the family to have the funeral nearby your residence. I will pray for you and your wife. Don M
  10. Karen: I am glad the house deals are working out ok. It sounds like it may have helped Dave deal with his pain by seeing that the housing situation was being taken cae of. I hope the docs find a way to give him some relief. You all have my prayers. Don M
  11. Nancy: you and Mike have my prayers. Don M
  12. Hi Jana: Your parents and you have my prayers. I have heard that avastin in combination with a convetional chemo such as taxol/carboplatin has had good results. It is new and may not be avalable in Australia. Other than that, alimta would be the next one. I guess your are going to have to make a proposal to your oncologist if he is not suggesting the nest step. Again, you all have my prayers. Don M
  13. I was glad to see your good news Melanie. I was very grateful to my surgeon too. Both times. Don M

  21. Hi Carleen: I can understqnd the need to get away from the board for a while. I feel that way sometimes. I think Becky's idea was right on. You and Keith need a weekend getaway. Also, I have heard of people having good results with avastin when used in combination with standard chemo drugs. I don't know how appropriate it would be for Keith's cancer though. You and Keith have my prayers. Don M
  22. Carol: it sounds like you have a good plan. I hope everything is benign. Don M
  23. Hi Debbie: your husband has indeed had a rough time. I am glad to hear he is getting stronger. I don't know much about sclc. There is a sclc section that you can browse through to see what other's experiences have been. I would like to welcome you and give you my best wishes for your husband. Don M
