    Thank you

Hi: it sounds like your mom has a good treatment plan, but seeking a second opinion in a treatment plan is a good idea. I know I appreceiate having an oncologist who explains his reaoning to me and is willing to discuss stuff I find on line. As and added plus, he is a kind person. The first thing he says to me on an office visit, is "Hi Don, how is it going?" And he always asks me ,"what have you been doing for fun lately?" Don M
  2. You and Mike have my prayers Sue.
  3. Hi Kitkathi: I am sorry to hear about your Pop. I hope theis new treatment regime will bring him good results. In the meantime, have a good time being with your Pop. Don M

  9. Hi Deb: it looks like your dad is on track. I had quit smoking 19 years before I got cancer and had a hard time believeing it. I hope your dad's lymph nodes continue to shrink and that he soon finds himself in the "no evidence of disease" category. Don M

Congratulations on your marriage and I hope the Tarceva is the ticket for your dad. Don M
  11. Frank: I am praying for you. I hope you get to try the seed method and unravel that turky form your windpipe. Don M
  12. Hi Jan: if your pathology comes out IA, you probably won't need adjuvant chemo. I have heard that the 5 year survival rate for Ia is so high (around 90% I think) that follow up chemo is redundant. Some IA survivors do it anyway. I think if you approached an oncologist and told him you wanted follow up chemo, he would likely do it. Here's hoping it is Ia for you! Don M
  13. Sheesh! I hope the anti psychotic drugs help. The sooner he gets off the steroids the better. At least now they can put a name to it and it is probably not brain mets. You have my best wishes and prayers to get through this. Don M
  14. Ellen: congratulations on Len's one year milestone. I have had 2 lung surgeries and after each one I walked and exercise faithfully. I have found it to be a way to help keep me focused and hopefullly well. My walk is the high point of my day. I have only one lung now, and can walk a mile in 16 minutes. I hope you can talk Len into walking. with summer approaching, there will be lots of nice days for walks. Don M

  17. Hi: the only side effect that I know of from dexamethazone is that it will keep me awake. Hopefully your dad's strange behavior will just be temporary. Don M
  18. Paddy: Yes, David will always know where you are. But if you want, you can always tell him in your heart what your plans are. It looks like you are heading in the right direction. Enjoy your new life, and remember David will be with you in your heart. Don M
  19. Happy 4th Gail. There will be many more. Don M
