  1. Strange how some people think that having cancer stops your brain from reacting to inappropiate (aka rude) statements and questions. I was asked numerous times (and still am) if I smoked......with all the underlying accusations....but I have not once been asked in the 6 months since my breast cancer dx what caused it! Weird how that works, my friend who has survived cervical cancer has not been asked about her sex life but you can guarantee that she will be asked about her smoking habits if she should ever get lc. One day I will forget my manners and tell the smoking inquirer that if they don't know me well enough to know then they don't know me well enough to ask! In the mean time I shall try to feel superior to the dumb a$$es who have no couth Geri
  2. When I'm "permanently" residing in one place I read the paper every day, starting with the first section and work my way through. Now that I'm in transit, so to speak, I get one whenever I go to the store. Really miss reading with my breakfast, can't wait to get the paper delivered every day again. Geri

Thanks Maryanne, I thoroughly enjoyed that. Geri
  11. Okay, consider this your kick in the butt! We've been through this before, you and I, and did your worrying make any difference? NOPE, it'll just give you wrinkles and grey hair and make your stomach sour Here's an idea........maybe Mom and Dad would like to spend the day with the kids and you could spend the day at home (or anywhere else) alone or with a friend. BUT, most of all remember that your getting all squirelly about the scan will not change what it shows, it is what it is and unfortunately all the worry in the world will not change it. The lecture is over for the time being, so anytime you need a refresher course let me know.....it'll be my pleasure Geri
  12. Congratulations, don't worry Mom knows and is as excited as you knew she'd be. Geri

Hey Rich, good to see your name here. I'm hanging in, just about back to normal re the surgery and chemo last week went well. Real short dose, only about an hour to infuse all 3 so a big change from my lc full days for 3 days. I'm fighting nausea again so am trying to graze instead of eat meals( a real hardship but someone has to do it ) Our move is over - sigh - but we're not living here full time yet so I'm still commuting weekends, I'm here in MA for 2 weeks.......better be careful or I'll think I actually live here......as Richard is going to be away for part of the time and I don't have tx until the 29th. Last time I was here I thought I'd lost my mind, I'm watching the 11 o'clock news and the Boston weather came on - Why on earth would I be seeing Boston stuff? Oh yeah I remember there's different cable channels in the hotel....then I realized where I was , do you think it's time to stop this nonsense??? Everything is really at the "slowly getting it together stage", I have just realized the time and I have to go get my car inspected (3 months after the VT one was done)....moving is a blast and I've not even tried to get a dr yet I'll be able to come here for the next couple of weeks so I'll catch up later. Soon Ready!!!!

As an old "regular" I'd like to order my usual........I think I'll start with a Vodka and Mountain Dew (just for old times sake - don't drink it too much any more, changed to Scotch) and then after a bite to eat - I'm cooking burgers if anyone is interested - I think I'll move on to Bailey's. Nice night cap to give me a dousey of a head in the morning - if not before Thanks K and F for reviving our pub, line up all the favorites of our departed friends and we'll toast their memories. Geri
  16. Nothing like babies to set you up for the day, they are adorable. Geri
  17. One month after my first chemo we hired a cleaning lady. Good old VT soul (younger than me but seemed ancient) who turned out to be an absolute asset. However one of the first things she told me was that I was the EIGHTH person she had worked for who had cancer and only ONE was still alive My comeback was that hopefully before long she'd know TWO I had to leave the room before she saw me laughing. This has become my party piece when I'm asked how long it's been, I love to see the shock then hear the laughter when it sinks in. Geri
  18. Comfort wins out over style when buying shoes.
  19. Our cat stuck like glue when I was going through my lc tx. For the first time he slept with me all day on our sofa.......a great change as he didn't usually go any where near the leather furniture. After my recent surgeries he was super attentive and after reading about Oscar last week I'm wondering...... Geri
