    Four Years -

You've made my day, this is wonderful. I think the best part is that you totally forgot. Enjoy watching Eric and the dog grow up, together. You've made huge strides here. Geri

    Oh Grandpa!

Grandma and Grandpa were driving from Washington to Florida to attend their granddaughter's graduation from medical school. Halfway through their trip, they stopped to visit one of their son's in Kansas for a night. Grandpa found a bottle of Viagra in the Medicine cabinet. He asked his son about using one of the pills. The son said, "I don't think you should take one Dad, they're very strong and very expensive." "How much?" asked Grandpa. "Around $10.00 a pill," answered the son. "I don't care," said Grandpa, "I'd still like to try one, we'll be leaving early in the morning, so I'll put the money under the pillow." Later the next morning, the son found $110.00 under the pillow. He immediately called Grandpa on his cell phone and said, "I told you each pill was $10.00, not $110.00". "I know," said Grandpa. "The hundred is from Grandma."
  8. Tracy I wish I had the magic words here, unfortunately our families are sometimes the last ones we can rely on in a crunch. Kasey and Fred and your friends will pick up the slack and you'll be able get the tx you need. Remember that we choose our friends for who and what they are, but the family comes pre-packaged with weaknesses that would sometimes make us avoid them if they weren't related. Rely on the people who want to help and fight for yourself in whatever manner you deem neccessary. Tell Grandma if she goes anytime soon she'll be waiting a while......you have things to do here first! Take care Geri
  9. Terrific news, here's hoping they brew as long as possible. Geri

    My first First

Ginny you took the words out of my mouth, have a birthday party for Mom. I hope you have as good a day as you can, just think about all those birthdays that your Mom made special over the years........kind of a retrospective if you like... and bask in her past glories. Happy birthday Geri
  11. Your parent's wishes come first and it seems to me that if his wife and children can and want to care for him his siblings should mind their own business. If they were being asked to take care of him it would be different, they aren't and everyone else is happy....especially Dad...so do as Dad and Mom want - in his place I'd want to stay home too. Take care Geri

  14. A college teacher reminds her class of tomorrow's final exam " Now class, I won't tolerate any excuses for you not being here tomorrow. I might consider a nuclear attack or serious personal injury or illness or death in your immediate family but that's it, no other excuses whatsoever !". A smart-*ss in the back of the room raises his hand and asks " What would you say if tomorrow I said I was suffering from complete and utter sexual exhaustion ?" The entire class does its best to stifle their laughter and snickering. When silence is restored the teacher smiles sympathetically at the student, shakes her head and sweetly says " Well, Robert, I guess you'd have to write the exam with your other hand."
  15. Positive thoughts for Jacob. Geri
  16. TOUGH OLD COWBOY COUNSELED HIS GRANDSON THAT IF HE WANTED TO LIVE A LONG LIFE,THE SECRET WAS TO SPRINKLE A PINCH OF GUN POWDER ON HIS OATMEAL EVERY MORNING. THE GRANDSON DID THIS RELIGIOUSLY TO THE AGE OF 103. WHEN HE DIED, HE LEFT 14 CHILDREN, 30 GRANDCHILDREN, 45 GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN, 25 GREAT GREAT GRANDCHILDREN AND A 15 FOOT HOLE WHERE THE CREAMATORIUM USED TO BE.......
  17. I tell it like it is, especially this year - 60 - I'm amazed I'm that old.......here I'm still waiting to feel like an adult and most of the world already thinks I'm old!!!!
  18. During my chemo I had a terrible headache, it lasted for days. During a visit with the onc for blood work I mentioned my headache to the nurses who imediately went into scan mode. An MRI was done straight away and I was told that there was nothing in my brain that showed any problem so I was sent home, much reassured. On my way home I realized that I had omitted one very important piece of information that would have changed the direction of everyone's day..........I have been a long time sufferer of cluster migraines so this was not at all out of the ordinary I'd had worse ones that had lasted longer but because I had the nausea side effect from my chemo I had ignored it as far as my headache was concerned. Oh well, at least the omission wasn't terminal Geri
  19. Little Tony was staying with his grandmother for a few days. He'd been playing outside with the other kids for a while when he came into the house and asked her, "Grandma, what's that called when two people sleep in the same room and one is on top of the other?" She was a little taken aback, but she decided to just tell him the truth. "It's called sexual intercourse, darling." Little Tony just said, "Oh, OK," and went back outside to play with the other kids. A few minutes later he came back in and said angrily, "Grandma, it isn't called sexual intercourse. It's called Bunk Beds. And Jimmy's Mom wants to talk to you."
  20. Junk, junk and more junk. We both (Richard's worse than I am) bring it in and drop it on the first flat surface which is the far side of the island........I couldn't use it to cook if I needed to, there's never room! Will it be any better in the next house I wonder? Geri

    The Struggle

From a purely personal point of view I'm so sorry that you're not going to be a presence in my cyber life anymore. From the other side I'm so thrilled for you that you have found a calling that will help others. I was so pleased to have met you and Lucie and Randy last year. Lucie was just as you'd written and I shall miss your thoughtful insights although I understand and applaud your moving on in the healing process. You were one of the first to repond to my first post and I have valued your opinions since. Take care and please check in from time to time. Geri

Thanks Connie, you're an inspiration to us all. Geri
  23. I also have that insurance and I have a case manager who deals with all the red tape and expedites anything out of the ordinary. If your sister doesn't have this already maybe she should make enquiries, mine has seen me through a couple of mine fields and gave me advice after my breast MRI was denied.......I didn't have to use it as the broker was already appealing it ( they've now paid the bill) but she was very helpful and is keeping tabs on me through my bc struggles. Hope they change their minds and she gets the PET - they paid for mine after my sclc tx. Geri
