  4. My birthday is Jan 20 and I'm expecting to drink with you in the pub on that day. This gives you a month to be back here. No more talk about taking messages either........everyone can take their own messages when it's their time because this isn't yours, Okay? Will be keeping you in my prayers for a speedy recovery. Another "wow"

Wow is right, almost like getting a hug. I've always known that our loved ones never leave us. Geri
  6. White icicles outside, some multi color on the shrubs but definitely colored lights on the inside tree.

    CELEBRATION

I'm a day late joining the celebration so make mine a triple!!! Donna, congratulations on 10 fine years with many, many more to celebrate. Salut! Geri
  8. Geri age 60 Professional volunteer. My proudest volunteer job by far is that I'm part of the Boston Walk and we've raised over a quarter of a million dollars in the past 2 years 6year survivor of limited sclc British by birth but Canadian (24years) and American (13years) by Adoption. Married 37 years to a lovely man who didn't tell me that he was a nomad (albiet a blonde Brit). We have one daughter Karen and son-in-law Rocco who are the reason we now live in Marlborough, MA., in our eigth house and 13th address (not counting the hotel suite we now live in part time in VT during this transistion) I am currently a 8 month survivor of stage II breast cancer, my last chemo was today (yesterday) and next week I go to make the arrangements for my radiation. This has not been the best year of my life so far (moving 2 weeks after a second surgery was no fun) but I've survived and aim to continue surviving until I am truly an old woman - I have not repaid my daughter for her teenage years yet!! Hope I didn't put too many of you to sleep with this saga Geri
  9. I won't be forgeting you on the 19th, Richard is having knee surgery on the 20th, I'll be praying for good results for both of you. Take care Geri
  10. What a bummer, about time someone fixed that infection crap for good. Good luck with the surgery, ask them all to please wash their hands properly!! Will keep you in my thoughts Geri

    Older Than Dirt

I missed the 'dirt' stage by one......not bad really, had the bread been delivered by a van I would have qualified! However I didn't come to North America until 1970 so I'm probably older than dirt really.
  12. Randy I'm coming over, what time's dinner?
  13. One of the drawbacks of water after chemo is that for some of us it tastes awful. I have this problem and use all sorts of flavorings to make it palatable. My favorite is to add small amounts of Maple syrup and lemon juice, (I experimented until I found the proportions I liked). The concentrated juices - Roses Lime Juice, Ribena, Orange Squash, Lemon Barley Water - (the sort that also go in mixed drinks) are also good.........anything to change the taste may make Dad more willing to drink if this is his problem. Geri
  14. You've been to one of my dinners haven't you?
  15. I was offered PCI and declined. I had no symptoms and my brain MRI's had always been clean so I decided against having it. I am now celebrating my 6th anniversary of survival, lung cancer free, and the choice I made not to have PCI turned out to be the right one. I wish I could advise you on your decision, my roll of the dice turned out to be a good one but I had also had very quick results from my chemo. Take care Geri

    Don Wood

I'm so pleased to hear good news about Don. I can't believe it's been a year without his Lucie though. Still missing his insight but glad he's persuing his ministry. Geri
  17. When I was first dx I was having problems with appetite etc, anyway I got frustrated and just said screw it, I've got cancer and I don't have to eat this if I don't want to! I found some chocolate and used it again, I've got cancer and I can eat this if I want to. This became a standing joke with a friend for a very long time......everytime I didn't want to do something I'd use my standard phrase, she'd roll her eyes and we'd laugh. As I was about to say it one day she smiled and told me I didn't have cancer anymore so get on with it!!!!! My cancer card had been recalled. Geri
  18. I'm thankful for my friend Dianne. We've been long distance friends since I moved from Calgary 20+ years ago and she has just offered to come and help if Richard needs a break or I just need help anything. What's so remarkable you may ask.....3 weeks ago she had cryogenic surgery to remove a malignant tumor from her kidney and she's offering to fly 2,000 miles to help me! I'm even more blessed with friends than I thought. Geri
  19. Sounds like you have a very good dr, I shall be sending good thoughts and prayers your way so that you can breathe easier. Your Maurie is one in a million, he's a keeper! Geri
  20. Well folks I've made it another year.....6 years since dx, what a milestone. I've lived to see my daughter meet and marry the the man of her (and our ) dreams, helped raise over one quarter of a million dollars for lc research, moved again (!) and taken several wonderful trips. Along the way I've met some terrific new friends who have supported me along with my old friends, I'm truly blessed. I've found out who can be counted on in a crunch and sadly who the lightweights are, not always the ones you expect but I've learned to live with it and love them anyway. This was not a journey I wanted or enjoyed at the outset and I can't say that I have had any kind of life changing epiphany. I gained a lot of knowledge that I would rather not have.....but, I have survived and thrived and shall continue to fight for survival. It's too early to raise a glass with a real drink so I think I'll go have some juice and coffee, will you all join me later in a celebration? Geri
