Joe B
Not Too bad for an old guy missing 1/2 a lung. I finished 31st out of 39 in my class (males 45-49) and 561st out of 819 overall. Gina and I ran at a leisure pace for the first 3 miles and then averaged sub 9 minute miles the last 3.2. We finished at a 9:52/ per mile pace. Decent. It Really felt awesome and we did RUN the entire time.... Next up a 10 mile run at the CRIM in Flint MI in August. Race Results are at http://www.bayshoremarathon.org and listed below for my class. Joe B
Gina and I finished the race together...she let me win (by 3 seconds) . She was 33rd out of 63 in her class (Females 30-34). We really regret starting at such a relaxed pace....but we learn each time we run these events (our second race together). I also had family running the full marathon (26 miles): My Brother in law Dennis Keppers (age 37 -3hrs 35 min), Nephew Adam Bono (age 18 -- 3hr 49 min), Brother Charlie Bono (age 46 -- 3hr 52 mins, and Sister Cathy Keppers (age 36 -- 3 hrs 57 mins) My Uncle Norm Pfaff (age 61), Cousin Charlie Pfaff (32), and his wife Anita Pfaff (age 28?) did the 10k with us. My Cousin Michelle's Husband Scott Howard (they live in Traverse City-- he is an attorney up there) did the 1/2 marathon and finished 7th out of 45 in his class ! at a 7 minute per mile pace ! (overall 42nd out of 720 runners in the 1/2 marathon race). Scott's Dad is a Doctor up in Traverse City and lives right on Lake Michigan... we all got together at his place for a great BBQ/ celebration after run . His house is right on the course route (it follows the lake) at miles 1 and 25. So we had a lot of family and friends cheering us all on along the way.
