I have my favorite picture of Rod on my desk so that is what I see in my mind. If my mind wanders to his Hospice days, I have to stop it. I don't like that picture. I'm sorry you are having a hard time. Barbb

Thanks, friends, it was a pretty big deal to go to that. It was the first social event with Rod's best friend since Rod and I went to dinner with them for his last birthday 9/15/07. Barb

Rod's best friend was the guest of honor at a surprise 60th birthday party last night at his house. He had gone to Omaha with his wife and daughter to "shop". Their last stop was Cabella's and they couldn't get him out of there and were about an hour late!! Anyway, I drove Rod's pickup, it needs to get on the highway and GO fast, the county roads over there are awful and it had rained. The hardest part was when I turned off the highway and the 5 or so miles to their place, I didn't put on makeup because I knew the tears would come but it wasn't as bad as I expected. The pain is so deep, not so close to the surface and like a terrible raw feeling. BUT, the party was fun, he was surprised, LOTS of people came and his-son-in law and sil's sister planned it and did all the food prep. I visited with a two old friends and we are going to get together and stay in touch now by email. God is truly gracious to me. Barbb

Michelle, I didn't know anything about chemo, we were so in shock and totally trusted our onc. We aren't oncs. and I think you are doing a good job searching out info, just communicate with your dr. so you can get info from him too, don't give up, you are doing great Barbb

Wow, my daughter is hard-core, the team will be "Butt Kickers-We Kick Ash". I don't know how to feel wearing this saying in public but it sure gets the point across doesn't it??? Thanks for all your ideas. Barbb

I'm so sorry for your pain. I wish my mom was here, too, and she died in 1996. It is very nice for your dad to have someone special in his life, and that you all like her. My dad remarried a lovely woman and that made me happy. I ask Rod if he's proud of me and I am sure he and your mom are pleased with who we are.
