Jyoung20
I remember wonder woman under-roos. I remember when a $25 bag of chips was fulfilling. I remember when a cabbage patch kid was the best toy for a girl to have. I remember when you didn't have to wear a helmet riding three-wheelers in the mud. And, it was okay to get as muddy as you could. Jamie
Snowflake
...and I remember spending less than $100 on a trip to the grocery store for a week worth of groceries! I think it averaged out to $10 a bag... NOW I can put $50 in a bag and have half the bag empty...

ginnyde
Marianne, of course I remember the Hot Shoppe. I was just talking to my daughter yesterday about playpens and how my sister laughed about trying to crawl under the carpet so the baby wouldn't see her going to the laundry room. I remember Red Rover, Jacks, trading cards, bat and ball, roller skating and jump rope. Playing outside from morning to night when ever the weather permitted. I remember spin the bottle and post office. Baby Snooks, Helen Trent, The Great Gildersleeve.

Ann
OMG...Ginny, thanks for reminding me of Spin the Bottle. I used to have a huge crush on the brother of my best friend when I was in the 5th grade. We would play spin the bottle and kiss. Gosh...think of how more "advanced" 5th graders are now. A silly little kiss would be no big deal!
J.C.
And I remember my father having to crank the car to start it. When we had to buy a Chinese baby for a quarter, or the nuns were mean to us all month long. Jackie
tatlyn
I remember when a bag of chips and a pop were a quarter (which represented a big chunk of my tip money from my paper route ...when kids had to be home when the street lights came on. ...I remember that knife man too!! ...and Don, I also have the *pony* picture. I remember when my husband (then my boss) and I worked in the service department of a car dealership and we arrived one day to find this computer thing that we were, from then on, actually expected to USE!! Well, we scoffed at and resisted that idea for as long as we could...there was just no way as far as we were concerned that the computer could improve on the way we already did things Oh, and the really BIG cell phone too!! My husband had one taken out of a car and built it into a briefcase, very cool
ginnyde
Jackie, our nuns wanted money for pagan babies, we didn't know what country they came from. I did have a nun in high school that saved aluminum foil - said it was used for money in Africa. Even back then we knew she was confused. J.C.
Ginny, Do you remember those aluminum carpet (?) they made to put in the back rest of the cars, it shined through the back window, and those dogs with the moving head also for the back window of a car, the raccoon tails for the antennas given by the garages. Maryanne
This is a little late Rich, But here in Jersey, do not pump our own gas, do get our windshields cleaned and will have the attendent check the oil if you ask. And our gas is the cheapest in the US. Go figure... How about that? I hate to say this but I have never pumped my own gas. Now I would be too embarrassed to do it. Have no clue. Kasey I can't believe you went to the Hot Shoppe.. I thought you were a baby at that time. Does anyone rememeber Winky Dink with the magic green screen you put over your TV Screen? Mickey Mouse Club: Annette was so cool, Tommy so cute How about when cars had those little windows in the front that you cranked to open it. That was cool, also had to step on a knob on the floor to get your bright lights. Maryanne
ginnyde
Maryann, I had the Winky Dink and You green screen. My fav was Don Herbert as Mr. Wizard. Uncle WIP? Birthday parties at home with Pin the Tail on the Donkey, drop the clothes pin in a milk bottle and musical chairs. My yellow stamps were S&H green stamps. Corner grocery stores that delivered. Soda fountains at drug stores. Department stores that gift wrapped your presents for free at Christmas. Dresses and hats to church.

Geri
When I got married my complete weeks grocery order cost around $20, this included steaks and all the other good stuff, it filled the trunk of the car! Now I'm again buying groceries for 2 and $20 doesn't cover the bottom of one bag. Oh Lord, I sound like my grandmother. Geri
