  1. Hi Mark: welcome to this site.
  2. Hi Michael: welcome to the survivors board. Man, that is a tough break recurring after an operation with curative intent. It happened to me too, but I guess I lucked out again (sort of), because my recurrence was local (stageIA). I had a second operation with curative intent. There are many stage 4 survivors who have been around for years. I am sure you will be one of them. I am guessing you changed to Swedish. They are a premier cancer center. I am 60 years old and live about 20 miles North of Hoquiam on SR101. I have 4 adult children, the youngest is 21. They are all away from home. My wife and I are legally separated, but have gotten much closer since I came down with cancer. It looks like the weather will be halfway decent this Saturday. I hope you have a good time at the stadium. Don M
  3. Nina: you certainly have my support and prayers. Let it just be a transient pain. Don M
  4. Welcome Elonda: I hope your mom finds good care.

Beth: I hope you get a break soon. Don M
  6. Hi and weclome to this site. I remember when I found out about my cancer, I was in shock and disbelief. That did not stop me from taking the necessary steps to deal with it. I see that you are also taking the needed steps in the midst of your shock. I hope the final results show it not to be cancer. Good luck. Don M
  7. Millie: You and your mom have my prayers. I hope your mom has a speedy recovery from her surgery and can soon speak clearly. Don M
  8. I did too, but I am not sure the web page form transferred all my data. Don M
  9. Bill: I hope your wife's pain can be managed and that the CXR brings good news. Don M
  10. I have 4 large bushes that become laden with blueberries in the summer. Plus, I have planted 9 more that will start bearing fruit this year. I gorged on them last season. I still have lots in my freezer. Not as good as fresh though. I think I will start eating the frozen ones though on my dry cereal. Dr Weil says they are excellent antioxidants. Don M
  11. It is good to see you post again Peggy: I am glad to hear that your husband's underarm bump is just a cyst. I have an inkling that the scans will bring news of favorable results. I have been doing chemo, and it has not been too bad, but I do sleep a lot. I miss work (sick leave) about 4 days in a 3 week period. I will be done in mid-June . I will be glad when it is over. I hope your son gets out of the hospital SOON. You all have my best wishes for health and well being. Don M
  12. Congratulations and congratulations Addie. Ihope there are lots of summery blue days this year. Don M
  13. Welcome Gale: I have family members who have had cancer too. You sure notice how widespread cancer is a lot more when you get cancer. I am beginning to think it is in everybody's family. Don M
  14. I have had 2 thoracatomys (the smiley face variety). The first one was a year and 4 months ago. The second one was 10 weeks ago. I have no post op pain to speak of other than I feel a little twinge now and then. I had physical therapy after the first one, but not the second one. I think I had a good surgeon. Don M
  15. Pat and Brian: you have my continued prayers. Don M
  16. Hi Karen: I have never heard of a hole in the lung complication associated with a lobectomy. I think they staple the remaining lobe after lobectomy to seal it. Maybe one of the staples failed? Dunno just geussing. I guess if I was told I had a hole in my lung and the medical people told me that they were waiting to decide what to do, I would become very insistent that it be fixed immediately. I guess I don't know if it is something to worry about either. At the very least, I would expect a detailed briefing from the surgeon. Don M
  17. Hi Nancy: I am praying that Mike has a big bounce back and that you get a break. Don M
  18. Hasppy birthday Joanie. I did not see the Rolling Stones until 1972 in Seattle, and I think it cost 20 bucks. Don M
  19. Cathy: it is nice that your kids are coming and you will have a better time in the coming days. You have my prayers. Don M
  20. Tina: You and Charlie have my prayers. Hopefully the lymph node will be shrink by the time treatment is over. Don M
  21. Jen: I am glad to hear your good news about your mom. Don M
