  4. me too, Ry... okay, since I couldn't get the elephant or the giraffe in the fridge, I decided to use the refrigerator to float across the crocodile infested waters in the safety of the ice box. While I was floating, I killed all the croc's so they were the only animal that didn't show up at the party. Hakuna Matata! Cindi o'h

    Done

Hi Boy you sure have been through it... Hope you heal up well and soon. As the resident hygienist, it would make sense that your parotid gland and others...have been affected by the rad. I know how uncomfortable that is. I have Sjogren's Syndrome so I personally can empathize with you. What helps me, and one product that is recommended by the dental community for help with xerostomia, is Biotene products. They make a wonderful chewing gum that helps to stimulate the other glands to work while providing a soothing mouth lubrication of it's own. They also have an artifical saliva substitute that helps with lubrication. Also, they make an alcohol free mouth rinse, and a toothpaste that is tolerated well for people in our situations. A sensodyne toothbush is really nice...they have an extra soft version that is easily tolerated. If your pharmacy doesn't carry these products, a good pharmacy will order them for you.. This just seems like a little way that I can help. I bought all of the products and my favorites are the gum and for nighttime waking with a completely dry mouth, the artificial saliva puts me back to sleep. Cindi o'h

    Recipes

My adopted mom is the best cook in the world...I will go over to her house and pour over her tried and very true recipes. She sent some "disgustingly healthy muffins" with me yesterday that were nothing but good stuff in them and oh, so tasty and moist. I will get on this project. Thanks for all of your work. Cindi o'h
  12. Karen, thanks so much for the update on your dad. Hope this hospital stay will be a short one and your mom will get some more help with your dad when he gets home. Glad he still uses his humor. Still praying daily for your family.. cindi o'h
  13. Hey gals... Rich's information on clinical trials is the best that I have seen... see his post above. It is worth a looky-see. Cindi o'h
  14. Hey Jim, Doggonit anyway. I hope that you handle this round as well as you have in the past. Keep on keepin'... 15. On Sept. 2, I had a CTangiogram with a CT overlay at the cardiologist office. I had been having "chest pressure" for a couple of months. Increased shortness in breath was also a symptom. I checked with the oncologist...nothing; I checked with the pulmonlologist....nothing; then I checked with the cardiologist and he said that my last stent had re-stenosed and set me up in the cardiac cath lab. Got that done. I could breathe a little easier, but continued to have strange symptoms. When I leaned forward to pick something off the floor, I coughed...everytime. Then on the 20th of Sept.the internist called and said, "oh, I found this report...you have some changes in your lungs...it looks like pleural effusions and a cardiac effusion and some lymphadenopathy of the hilar nodes and some raggedy edges in the lining of your pleural wall..." I can spot Ativan-time now without being told..... I got set up with the oncologist. He compared the CT's and wanted me to have a diagnostic thoracoscopy...you know...snips for the pathologist? The surgeon didn't want to do it because it was too soon after my stent replacement and he didn't want to take me off the blood thinner. He was afraid of uncontrolled bleeding. They wouldn't even do a thoracentesis. So, my ocologist was mad. I mean mad. We decided to set up for this follow up CT for the 18th. I have been on pins and needles pretty much this whole time and have done as well as a person can who has a potential ticking time bomb in her chest... Yesterday, my oncology app't finally arrived. All I can say is, Praise God. And thank everyone for mentioning my name to Him. The CT scans showed slight improvement in the effusions. To my oncologist, that said that the etiology was continued radiation changes! I told that Doctor, "Well, you get over here and give me a big ole hug!" Because of the arthritis in my knees, I was slow to get up. He scooped me out of my chair and gave me what I asked for. I also got a nice hug from the nurse practioner. They told me not to think about cancer at all until next January when my next CT is scheduled. I am a happy girl today. On top of the world. This was HUGE for me. Now I can concentrate on the rest of my REAL problems.... Blessings. Cindi o'h
  16. Next oncologist visit= January!!!!!!! Will update signature Cindi o'h
  17. Well, I do love baseball and I love the Twins. I follow them up until the time the Yankees usually (but not always) wipe our butts.. Then, because I am female, I root for whichever team has the cutest players...and especially pitchers. ( I vote using other methods, however) Cindi o'h

  20. Hi Karen, Thank you so much for the post and the update on your Dad. I pray for them everday.. It is worrisome to have to sit on the side of the bed to breathe. When I told the doctor that I was doing that he wanted to see me right away because he thought it could be my heart. And sure enough it was. So glad that your family takes good care of each other. My prayers continue. Cindi o'h
