  1. Hi Kim, Welcome to our family. My heart really goes out to you. I know it is hard enough to have your mom have cancer , but when the medications alter her personality it makes it even harder. Cindi mentioned an article I have about steroid psychosis and I would be glad to give it to you, but it is a pdf file and I don't know a way to attach it here. If you would like to email me by clicking the email button at the bottom of my profile , I will be glad to attach it to email. It was just something that I found on the net, but it helped me to understand my husbands behavior when he was on steroids and other meds. I can tell you that the patient does tend to take things out on their family . As hurtful as it is to you, they have no control over their behavior. As in my husband's case, they can become quite paranoid also. Knowing this won't make it go away, but it will help you understand and know what is usually done about it. In the meantime, you have found a group that is very kind, compassionate and willing to help you . Looking forward to knowing you better. Sue
  2. Kathi , I'm so very sorry for all the pain and loss in your family now. Praying your husband will be there in time to be with his father and with you. God be with all of you through this difficult time. Love and Prayers, Sue

  5. Don and Lucie, The two of you continue to inspire me. It's good to hear that Lucie is tolerating the treatments so well and feeling good. Continued prayers for you both. Love, Sue
  6. It sounds good for your FIL. If he begins to experience side effects, help him realize the chemo is attacking the cancer also. It would be almost impossible to put a foreign chemical in your body and not feel something. The dexamethasone oftentimes causes the red face and feeling hyper , but it tends to wear of in a few days leaving you a bit fatigued also. As I remember , my husband tolerated it all very well. My best to your fil and your family. Sue

Giving Brian every chance to fight this cancer needs all your strength. Praying that Alimta will be the chemo he needs. It has been known to work magic for many. 20. Cindi, I feel your disappointment, but thank God they aren't saying cancer. I know you were hoping for more , but hopefully with close pulmonary testing, rehab and their bag of tricks they can get you breathing better. Know that you have my prayers . Now will you please open the pub... Love, Sue
  21. Cathy, My husband, Mike has had a lot of chemo . I can tell you that his oncologist believes in continuing treatment, as long as the cancer is still sensitive to chemo. If scans show that the tumors are responding to a certain chemo, he continues on with it until scans show no more response. At the point in which there is no more response or even growth of tumors, he starts on something new. There are many kinds of chemo. Every case is different and every patient is different. A lot depends on the overall condition of the patient, also. There are so many factors that are involved in when to take breaks and what chemo to do next. Significant improvement is wonderful news!!! Hope it continues. Sue
  22. Don, Wow!!! you made my Saturday. This is wonderful news and thanks for the wise advice. Thanks for sharing your inspirational story. My best to you. Sue
  23. Kasey, Thank you for the update. Cindi has been on my mind and in my prayers. She has been through a lot trying to find out exactly what is causing all her problems. I'm praying she will come out of that hospital with answers and solutions. In the meantime, I hope she jumps in here and realizes just how much she is loved. Last I saw the line to the pub is wrapped halfway around the block now. Hope she hurries home soon.. Love, Sue
