    About Drew

More prayers coming for Drew. Sue
  7. Starr, Please accept my heartfelt sympathy. May God give you strength to carry you through the days ahead. Love, sue
  8. Don, I don't know how I missed this before, but I'm glad I saw it now. I think you should feel much better after talking to your doctor. Mike did have recurrence in the bronchial stump and he did have blood, but IT DID SHOW ON CT SCAN. It however, did not show on xray. This is a point that I like to share with everyone, that they want to make sure they get periodically checked with CT and not just Xray. Mike's recurrence happened after 3 years and at that point the doc was doing just xrays. The x ray didn't catch it. Keeping you in my prayers and having very positive thoughts. My parents are both on blood thinners and from time to time have blood in sputum, sometimes from nose and also blood in urine. It can happen. God Bless. Love, Sue
  9. Pat, Glad to hear you are getting a bit of help. Know that you have my prayers , always. Love, Sue
  10. Kerry, I am so very sorry to hear about the loss of your mom. May God be with you and your family in the days ahead. We will look forward to hearing from you when you feel up to it, but for now , you take care of you. Love and Prayers, Sue
  11. Oh (((Pat))), You have too much for one person to deal with. I would deal with the medical emergencies and concentrate on drumming up some help. You mentioned Brian's daughters will help, I would accept. Accept and reach out for any and all help that you can. Know that I am sending you prayers always... Love and Prayers, Sue
  12. Jim, Sounds like you have a lot of good news there and I'm so sorry about the not so good. I'm curious about that trial . You and Mike have a lot in common , as far as, track records and chemos. He's running out of options it seems. I'm not so sure I'm comfortable with the choice the onc has chosen for him. Keeping my antennae up searching for anything new. Will have to research yours and see what I learn.. It's good to have a new plan and we want you to know we are keeping you in our prayers. Love, Sue

  14. Ohhh Becky, How did I miss this yesterday? This is wonderfully, fantastic news... hope the party is still going . I'm on my way. Love, Sue
  15. Cindi, You stay positive, we need you. Whenever you are feeling down, you think about that warranty. You've got to be around to get your money's worth out of it, right? You are truly a survivor and your spunk and outlook is so contageous. Love you girl. Take care of yourself. Love, Sue
  16. We want to thank all of you for your positive thoughts and prayers. It means so much to know we aren't alone. Jim, I remember your wonderful , inspiring results with Cisplatin and CPT11, but I always thought it had more to do with the smile on your precious grandson's face. Who wouldn't feel better after looking in those eyes? Mike's combo will be different than any I have read about here , but the doc didn't want to revisit the platin drugs with Mike. Perhaps it is because he had no response from Carboplatin in the beginning plus he suffers from slight neuropathy in his toes and fingers now. It's getting hard to find a chemo that Mike hasn't had. Okay , enough rambling for me for now.. Prayers to all. Love, Sue
  17. Pat, Thanks for sharing.. I am so very sorry to hear Brian is feeling so sick today. I hope you two know I keep you in my prayers. As for the every week thing, that's what the onc said . He wants to put Mike on small doses weekly at first to find out his tolerance for it . He said diarrhea is the main problem and has to be dealt with aggressively until undercontrol. He said Immodium every 2 hours and every 4 at night until it is under control.
  18. Welcome Ellen, I just want to say hello and let you know that we are happy to have you with us. There is a lot of knowledge to be gained at this site, as well as support and prayers. Tell Henk to hang in there and know that in most cases there are lots of options. Sue
  19. After two failed attempts with Tarceva , we are moving into the next plan. Mike is still a little short of breath , but the prednisone is helping that. Starting tomorrow, the prednisone dosage will be coming down. On Friday, CT Scans of Chest abdomen and Pelvic will be done, next Thursday he has a ,previously scheduled, pulmonologist appointment and then if all is well we will meet with the onc again on Monday , Oct. 10th to get scan results and start chemo. The doctor wants to start him on CPT11 plus Avastin. For now, we will take it one day at a time and get a new set of gloves out for the next fight. Will do some mini reports along the way. Take care all . If anyone has any experience with either of the two drugs, I would appreciate you sharing them with us. Thank you. Love and Prayers, Sue
  20. Prayers coming for benign results. Sue
  21. Mike was on Alimta alone also. He was given folic acid and took vitamin B12 shots, but other than that it was used alone. The only other thing that comes to mind is they may put it with Avastin. Avastin is often put with others and will soon be given to Mike. From what I have heard from others, Alimta is used alone quite often. Sue
  22. Midge, We are glad to have you here with us. Looking forward to getting to know you better. Sue
