Its taken me almost a week to be able to write this post. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think of you both. I'm just so dam angry at anyone who would dash Keith's hopes. I hope that he has gotten his spirit back since that day. I do believe in miracles. Joan

So happy for you both. The chemo and radiation should also make a big difference, once you're through. Make sure bf drinks a LOT of LIQUIDS It's very easy to become dehydrated. We're all here for you along the way if you need more tips. Take care. Joan

Hi Liz, I too was given that "grim" diagnosis almost 14 months ago. I know that doesn't sound that long, but when you've been told "nothing we can do", or 3-6 months, Wow, it's a lifetime. I also feel great and plan to continue doing so for a long time. Best wishes and get your fighting gloves on!!! Joan

Aliboo, You do need to call the doctor. The percoset obviously is not the right drug for your boyfriend. There are many others that will control the pain. I am on oxycodone, but there are others also. Joan

Hi Aliboo, I would call your doctor immediately and ask for a prescription for some kind of pain killer. There is no reason your boyfriend should be in so much pain. Joan

Charlene, I was also dx with stage IV LC. Just hearing that is a tremendous shock, but there is hope and life out there. It may help your mom to speak to other stage IV survivors. It's possible to live for a long time with stage IV. I don't know where you live, but there also may be support groups available, even through a nearby hospital. I would ask your doctor. I would look specifically for a LC group. By the way, her expectation of looking like a "freak" may be far from the truth. People that don't know would never know I'm sick. Even my friends and family look at me and can't believe my dx. I would be more than happy to speak to you or your mom. You can PM me any time. All the best Joan

Has your dad tried Emend. That did wonders for my nassea. Also, please make sure that he is drinking water, or any liquids he can get down. It will make him feel better and prevent dehydration which can just overwhelm you even after chemo, very easily. This is so hard, but you're right, keep his eye on the "prize". Wishing you both the best, and you've certainly got my prayers coming. Joan

Is there any way that she can set up an automatic deposit into a checking account. This way there's never a chance to lose or have a check stolen. She should also call tomorrow to report the check lost. Joan

Every once in a long while, we'll take a ride to Brooklyn to get the original italian pizza. Just plain cheese (real motzarella). Don't know what else is different, but it's the BEST!!
