Hi Joanie, I can help you with some of your SSD questions. There is usually a 6 month wait to get benefits. You need to call your SSD office or go to www.socialsecurity.gov. You must have earned enough credits through working. To qualify you must have "a physical or mental impairment that's expected to prevent you from doing "substantial" work for a year or more, or result in death. Hope this helps. Joan

Curious as to where u live. Also, the fact that you were discussing this with the nurse practitioner, you should be speaking with the doctor. Your father should have an MRI, CT scans, etc. above and beyond the X-Ray to see if his cancer has spread. It's upsetting to me to hear someone be so flippant as to a medication they obviously know very little about. My doctor says that Avastin will be approved soon as the protocol for certain lung cancers and he is an oncologist at Sloan Kettering. Joan

I've been on Avastin since May of 2005. First United Health Care paid for it and now Blue Cross/BlueShield pays for it. Joan

Nancy, I've been on oxycodone (long acting) once in the morning and once at night for almost a year now. It's been fabulous. There is also a short acting version, but it made me tired, so this just keeps a continuous supply of medication in my body at all times. This was specifically given to me for bone pain. Joan
