Buddy's Chemo Onc Visit 1/6/04

Went to the chemo onc visit today and Buddy has lost 6 more pounds. The doc said he cannot give Buddy chemo because he is to to weak and it would only do him harm in his state. He explained Iressa to him as I to had done before we left for the drs for I knew he would not give chemo in Buddy's condition. He will start on Iressa in 3 days. Will go back to the dr in three wks to see how the doc thinks Iressa is doing. Am very sad but yet am glad Iressa is there at the present time. I sure have my fingers and toes crossed for Iressa. I sure hope he doesn't get bad side effects for I know his body condition will not be able to take it.

Thanks everyone for being here.

If I Could Catch a Rainbow:

If I could catch a rainbow, I would do it just for you, And share with you its beauty, On the days you’re feeling blue. If I could build a mountain, You call your very own, A place to find serenity, A place to be alone. If I could take your troubles, I would toss them in the sea, But all these things I’m finding, Are impossible for me. I cannot build a mountain, Or catch a rainbow fair, But let me be what I know best A friend that’s always there. Author Unknown

Norme and Buddy,

Darn, darn, darn. I was really hoping you would get better news than what you do. I am so sorry my dears.

If Buddy can handle ice cream you might want to consider going to Culvers if you have one. Their stuff is custard ice cream which has many more calorie in it than normal ice cream. That is why I have to stay away from that place. They make the best. If there is a flavor he really likes and it is not on the menu, most of them will custom make your flavor for you if they have the stuff. Just something to think about as far as putting on some weight or maintaining Buddy's weight.

You are both in my prayers. I pray the Iressa works for Buddy and that you have the time you need. Keep the faith dear ones.

Wishing you enough and then some.

Much love,

Shirley

Norme, I was so in hopes that Buddy was gaining strength and so sorry to read your post You are both in my prayers daily. Sheridan's is another custard type ice cream place here that has really high calories. Are you getting Boast from ACS? Please keep us updated. Norme, I have been where you are so know how hard this is on you and pray for strength for you and that you will feel God's comforting arms about you. Bonnie

Norme,

I am currently on Iressa. I have been on it since October 2002. Aside for some rashes and occasional GI symptoms and even rarer fatigue I have found it to be very easy. More importantly, it has held me stable. I pray it is effective and easy for Buddy.
