    3 Years!

    You go girl!!!
  3. Ok all you earthquake rookies, in So. Cal we would have been irritated at the disruption from our sleep rolled over and went back to sleep I would rather have the occassional shaker, then have to deal with some of the crazy weather those in the mid west deal with.
  4. Well it's not really my "yard" but in front of our condo are 5 very tall and majestic looking pine trees We currenty have hawks nesting at the top (proof in the form of the "bunny fur" left behind at the base of the trees). My back yard is asphalt, so no trees there.
  5. This was a wonderful surprise So good to have Cindy back in the house

  9. Linda, My husband's radiation oncologist is the same way. Alan's last PET/Scan was denied by my insuance company, which we all know is a very expensive test. My husband's radiaiton oncologist has his own clinic and owns his own PET/CT scanner, so he did the scan and did not charge me one dime. I even went in with lots of cash as a good faith down payment and he refused to take my money. I can not begin to tell you how many radiation treatments Alan has had. I added up what my portion should have been after the insurance portion was paid. Lets just say I would need to take a 2nd out on my home to cover the cost. I have NEVER received a bill. Asked about it one day and Alan's Dr. told me he was satisfied with what the insurance company paid and the rest has been written off. I give back to Alan's Dr. by volunteering at his office and all their fund rasing events. Will never add up to what I owe, but my way of saying Thank you. There are some great men and women out there taking care of patients, I think we just don't hear enough about them.
  10. None, I am the ANTI Green Thumb, Plus can't have too many flowers around Alan.
  11. Wasn't sure which forum to post this subject, so moderators move if you need to. At Alan's appointment today his dr. strongly recommended Alan try smoking marijuana to increase his appetite. Alan is down to 129 pounds and eating is a constant battle. The other medications Alan could take have high risks of blood clots and Alan is sediatry all day, and alreday taking procrit which casues blood clots, and for the procrit Dr. Mahmood is willing to take the risk. So has any one on the board tried this? We would both appreciat the feeb back and finally I can get so weight on that man of mind.
  12. Chris, I can not add much more, and like most others I have every piece of medical information on my husband and have copied it all twice. For Alan's scans I have both the CD's and written reports. The one needle biopsy he had we had pathology report with in 48 hours. His original broncoscopy results were same day. Many prayers are coming your way. So very sorry you are having to deal with all of this, but do not hesitate to ask questions. So much information to be shared by the caring memebers of this board.
  13. Dave May we get many more postes on this date celebrating another year cancer free!!!!
  14. Laurie, I am so sorry about Bill. He was a fighter, but is now in the arms of God. My prayers go out to you and your family.
  15. I was called to jury duty approx 9 years ago, did not serve on a trial and have not been called back since.
  16. Thank you Ann, Yes Alan and I are celebrating 16 wonderful years together We are still planning on a short get away close to home. Alan's blood work was right on the edge yesterday to him needing another transfusion, but we are hoping the shot of procrit will hold him over until next weeks blood work. I want to thank everyone who I have leaned on these past few months. You have gotten me through some difficult times. Prayers to my friends who are having scans in the next couple of weeks.
  17. Simple acts of kindness from stangers. A simple thing such as holding the elevator door open when people see me wheeling Alan in his wheelchair so we do not have to wait for the next elevator. That happen a couple of times yesterday as I took Alan for his blood work.
  18. My husband Alan had one a couple of weeks ago and he said it wasn't bad at all. He had no pain after the procedure. It is the only one he has had to have. They removed about 600cc of fluid. No problems since it was done. I know others on the board have had them done so I hope one of them can tell you more what to expect. Prayers to you and your family
  19. Congrats on 1 year, My husband is a 3 year survivor of ED-SCLC, so you are right never give up hope!!
  20. If it grows I am allergic, especially flowers. Lots of sneezing and itchy watery eyes.
  21. Alan always has MRI's of his brain, this is probably a good question for Dr. West.
  22. My hobbies have changed through the years, right now it is golf. Play as often as I can and when it is warm enough Alan rides in the cart with me.
  23. This is why I am so very glad my sister is raising teenagers and not me.
  24. Not sure I will be allowed to post the phase I use too much. It was used quite a bit on the golf course Friday
  25. As I have done both I can honestly say I would take less and work at a job I love. I worked 7 years at a job I hated . Not worth it.
