trish2418
Tarceva served me well for 19 months, but it looks like that ride is over now. My last PET/CT confirms that the cancer is growing, and I'll begin either Alimta alone or Gemzar/Navelbine next week. I'm leaning towards the latter, but I'll listen to what the doc has to say about Alimta. So tonight I'll dig out the magical big girl panties that served me so well through the initial rounds of chemo, and I'll get the bat from the back of the closet (thanks for the suggestion, Snowflake) and start beating back the monsters. On the bright side, tomorrow morning I will have a big, juicy pink grapefruit. Oh how I've missed them. Trish
mhutch1366
Sounds like a plan, Trish. Keep us posted. XOXOX MaryAnn
Shelley (MLC)
Hi Trish, sorry to hear that the Tarceva is no longer working. I wish you the best with your new treatment. Good luck! Shelley
Connie B
Oh Crap! Sorry to hear the Tarceva isn't working anymore, but I'm going to hope that the magic bullet is still out there. Halloween is for scaring the crap out of people, but maybe we would scare the crap out of that tumor instead. Keep that positive attitude. Hope the bat does the trick too! If that doesn't work I've got a slug hammer that might. Hang in there kiddo.
Ry
Trish- I remember how hard it was for John when the Tarceva stopped working. It is so nice to take a pill. He went on to Alimta (he'd already had gemzar) and then they added Avastin. Good luck with whatever you choose.
Kasey
Well darnitall, Trish . I sure wish Tarceva had continued with success for you. Hope whatever you choose next serves you even better. I'm just sorry you have to begin anew. Stinks, I know. Too bad there is need for those panties. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to just toss them out!!! fillise
Well I think the chemo will be pretty powerful, but I think that beating you give the disease with the bat will do the trick! It is a WAR! Susan

Patti B
Hi Trish - Sorry your Tarceva is no longing working - I know the feeling - I was spoiled on just Avastin and it just stopped working and I will have my second Alimta treatment tomorrow. So far, so good with the Alimta and from I have heard, it has shown a lot of promise in people. Hope whichever chemo you choose knocks the *&^@# out of your cancer!! I know what you mean about grapefruit - I eat it every single night. When I first came off of Carbo/Taxol the first thing I asked the doctor was - can I eat grapefruit again??? I will be thinking of you tonight as I eat my nightly bowl of pink grapefruit!! Patti B.

Barbb
Trish, Rod is starting Alimta next Thursday. I got the info sheet and it looks like we need to get out the popsicles. If I remember correctly, I read that during the treatment the pt should eat popsicles and it helps prevent some of the sore mouth, But then I take sleeping pills and have "vivid" dreams so it could just be that I love popsicles. I don't get it about the big girl panties..... Can we get out the rifle to kill the cancer I can't find the baseball bat? Barb

Welthy
Trish, Sorry to hear about the Tarceva, but it was a great run. Have hope that the next regimen will do just fine in keeping the beast at bay. Good luck for no side effects, great shrinkage, or better yet, NED. J.C.
Why do they stop working after a while???? Those big girls panties sure are a help while the decision about what is next is cooking. Have to tell you about the real big girl panties I wore. My Mom, would be 121 years old and she had a steamer trunk full of the nicest lace underwear and sleepwear that could be found. Those lace panties (knee lenght) lined with *Crepe de Chine* were just what my friend and I needed to wear over our bathing suits instead of shorts.........Mom was proud of all she had kept and gave us permission to use them. 1950 here we come......year of the transparent blouses over one piece bathing suit and those elegant pants/panties.......reaching the knees. I still can see people stopping walking to have a look at the new fad.....but the nicest happening of the day was an older man that wanted a picture of us wearing our best, we did not know that he was a photographer from a big store in Montreal and two days later our picture was in the 'News papers' under the Memorabilia wear with the story about the fancy pants. Only good things could happen after wearing them, so Snowflake was so right when she used that expression, only good happenings for you will come after wearing your ''Magical Big girl panties'' Love Jackie
