David A Posted August 7, 2004 Share Posted August 7, 2004 Last night my dog of 11 + years died peacefully here at home, my sister had taken my boys for a few days so it was quiet here. She had been sick for a week plus the vet thought she might have had sn infection of some kind, I put the poisoning thing on the back burner for my own sanity, she was a garbage hound, never knew what she had eaten. We are taking her to get cremated 1st thing this morning.DavidA _________________ DavidA GO PISTONS IN 2004!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Gemzar stopped 2/27/04 too many side effects. Its so funny how our pets become a part of our daily lives that we don't even have to think about, like breathing...they are just there, waiting to be loved, and your dog was a very lucky dog to be cared for in such a loving family. Rainbow Bridge Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. My Mollie is an 8 year old yellow lab and she is a very big part of our family - (she doesn't think she's a dog). I can't even think about losing her - so sad. Here's what I tell my kids in school when it happens to them (3rd graders): _______________ (name of dog) is now in heaven with my dog. They are together in doggie heaven. Then I ask what the dog liked to do, and explain to the child that the dog is doing that right now. And the dog is happy, and healthy, and running in a big field. When they start to smile then I explain that doggie heaven is right next to kitty heaven, where I have lots of cats!!! Then the child is invited to bring a picture of the pet the next day so we can all see the animal The picture gets to sit on the desk all day, which is very special, since normally nothing is left out. Now, before you start thinking how wonderful I am, I do this because when I lose a pet, I am devasted!!!!! He is buried in his own little garden with a cobblestone marker and a lilac tree. I am happy for him now, he is happy and free, no more sickness. I know there is a place for them, as it wouldn't be Heaven without them. Our condolences, Jim, Margaret, Prairie Dog (collie mix age 12), and Andy (Schnauzer-Terrier mix age 4).
