  1. Leslie, I love reading your news. You keep all that positive news coming. You have my prayers for the upcoming CT scan. Love, Sue
  2. THREE WOMEN -- ONE GERMAN, ONE JAPANESE AND A HILLBILLY -- WERE SITTING NAKED IN A SAUNA. SUDDENLY THERE WAS A BEEPING SOUND. THE GERMAN PRESSED HER FOREARM AND THE BEEP STOPPED. THE OTHERS LOOKED AT HER QUESTIONINGLY. THAT WAS MY PAGER, SHE SAID. I HAVE A MICROCHIP UNDER THE SKIN OF MY ARM. A FEW MINUTES LATER, A PHONE RANG. THE JAPANESE WOMAN LIFTED HER PALM TO HER EAR. WHEN SHE FINISHED, SHE EXPLAINED, THAT WAS MY MOBILE PHONE. I HAVE A MICROCHIP IN MY HAND. THE HILLBILLY WOMAN FELT DECIDEDLY LOW TECH. NOT TO BE OUTDONE; SHE DECIDED SHE HAD TO DO SOMETHING JUST AS IMPRESSIVE. SHE STEPPED OUT OF THE SAUNA AND WENT TO THE BATHROOM. SHE RETURNED WITH A PIECE OF TOILET PAPER HANGING FROM HER BEHIND. THE OTHERS RAISED THEIR EYEBROWS AND STARED AT HER. THE HILLBILLY WOMAN FINALLY SAID, WELL, WOULD JA LOOK AT THAT. I'M GETTIN' A FAX.
  3. Congratulations on 2 years Don!!! Looking forward to celebrating many more with you. Love, Sue
  4. Pat, I agree that you might want to talk to the nurses at the doctor's office . One thread you might want to read is on the NSCLC & Mesothelioma board... by Linus32. It has to do with mental confusion that was being caused by a patch . On that board you will see several people mention side effects from patches and other medications. One of those is Maryanne writes about how the Fentynal Patch made Joel like a zombie. This probably won't answer your questions about Brian's case, but it will possibly give you a reason for some of his symptoms. Pat, I just want you to know that my heart goes out to you and to Brian and I keep you in my prayers. I know this must be such a very hard time for both of you. God be with you. Love, Sue
  5. Welcome Abra, I'm glad you found us. The more we know about your mom's case, the more we can help. As an exsmoker, myself, I hope you realize nicotine is addictive and not easy to quit. Be patient with your mom and for you and for her don't be angry . I quit cold turkey over 2 and 1/2 years ago, but it has to be something a person feels very motivated to do. Whyquit.com helped me tremendously for information and support. Maybe there is something there to help her. Let us know how we can help you. You have found a group of very knowledgable and compassionate people. Looking forward to knowing you better. Sue
  6. Kelly, I want you to know you have my prayers for your mom. I can't imagine any doctor operating without getting medical history and taking into consideration a patients ability to undergo anesthesia. Somehow, I would want to make him aware of her history. God Bless. Love, Sue
  7. Lori, When Mike was on higher doses of prednisone he had swelling in the feet, ankles and legs. The big clue was that it was both of them and not just one. Just one can possibly indicate one of two things. Maybe she only keeps the one dangling or it coud be swelling due to blood clot or some other cause. Another thing that accompanied the increased fluid retention with Mike was increase in blood pressure. The doctor put him on diuretics and potassium to control all of it. If I were you , I would call the doctor about it especially if it's only one leg . Sue
  8. Linus, I sure hope you have found the answer to your mom's problem. It's really hard because sometimes the meds they need are the meds that are causing the problems. Good luck. Sue
  9. Ry, Your support, love , dedication and company in the Pub has not gone unnoticed. Thanks for always being there for all of us 4,000 plus times. Love, Sue
  10. Jamie, This is wonderful news!!! I'm so happy for you. Love, Sue
  11. Kathi , My heartfelt sympathy goes out to you and your family. Love, Sue
  12. My husband coughed up blood on a couple of occasions. There is really no one answer to your question. Coughing up blood is always a concern, but only the doctor can determine whether you need to be seen or treated for it . If it was a lot of blood, then don't wait .. go to the ER. If it's just a little or blood streaked then it could probably wait til morning, but I would most definitely call your doctor either way. My best to you. Sue
  13. Cindi, Keeping you in my prayers. Love, Sue
  14. (((Beth & Bill))), God be with the two of you as you go through the days ahead. Beth, come as often as you like and post your feelings. I can only imagine how hard this must be and my heart goes out to you. Love, Sue
  15. Welcome MissDi, Glad to have you join us. Sorry you have to be here and yes, cancer does suck. No one wants to be here, but we are all thankful we have this group to come to. You will find everyone here to be helpful, knowledgable and compassionate. Looking forward to knowing you better. Sue
  16. I can tell you that medication or combination of certain medications can cause confusion, agitation etc. in what seems to be overnight. My husband had it happen to him a few months ago. His was a combination of high dose prednisone plus other meds . He was able to function fine and then one day got so confused about everything. His lasted quite a while, as he was gradually taken off the prednisone etc. I'm only commenting on this to let you know that yes, meds can very rapidly cause this kind of memory loss and confusion. There could also be other causes. At the time, doctors did not know the answers to why my husband had this happen. He had an MRI and CT of the brain -both normal. Three doctors gave 3 different guesses and none of them ended up correct. After 2 months time he had gradually come back to normal. I'm just sharing this to let you know that it can happen. My heart goes out to you. I know how frustrating and upsetting that situation can be. Sue
  17. Happy Birthday Charlie D.!!! Love, Mike and Sue
  18. Cindi , Go for the test regardless of what folks say. Take deep breaths, now that you can breathe a little better.. and know you have prayers coming your way. I'm wondering... just thinking .. you just recently started new meds and inhalers .. could any of them be causing your headaches. So many drugs cause headaches as a side effect.. No matter what you find out about that, do go for the MRI. Will be anxiously waiting to hear the results. Love, Sue
  19. I would just like to suggest that you not just accept this as a side effect. Call the doctor and ask about why he thinks this is happening and ask what can be done to help him. This was not a side effect my husband had to Alimta, but then again my husband had side effects to treatments others haven't . My point is don't accept it , get help with it. There are so many things that can be done. My best to you. Sue
  20. Oh Cindi o'h, I love reading this post . You are my hero girl. You just have a way of gathering up all the negatives in your life and turning them to positives. I'm glad the doctor has come up with a plan to help you. Not being able to breathe is such a helpless feeling. As for those scans, you can count on lots and lots of nonstop prayers from me. Will be anxiously waiting for the outcome. Love, Sue
  21. Welcome Julie, I'm so glad you found us. If you could post a profile of your mum it would make it easier for us to help you. There are many here with sclc that would be more than happy to share information with you. The more we know, the more we can help. Just know you are in the right place for support, information and above all hope. Looking forward to knowing you better. Sue

  23. Lori, I am so sorry to hear about all this . I wish I had answers for you. We just don't have any experience with anything that you are going through. I hope you can get some kind of help. This is just too much for you to handle alone. Will be keeping you and your family in my prayers . Love, Sue
  24. Peggy, You've been on my mind so much lately. I'm so glad you posted this. It's good to hear your smile. I just know this warms your heart to know Don's bike will have a good home. Take care and know that you are thought of often. Love, Sue
  25. Fay, Whoever would say such a thing to you hasn't taken the time to get to know you. Just reading your profile is enough to tell anyone that you are no stranger to the rough roads one may have to travel in fighting this disease . Anyone that has the nerve to make such a statement needs to look up every one of your posts and read some of the most inspirational words ever written here. Sorry someone would say that to you. Please don't let it affect you in any way. You are loved, appreciated, taken seriously and admired.. those are words you can take to the bank. Prayers are with you Fay. Love, Sue
