Darrell
Hello! My name is Darrell. I'm 44yo and have been diagnosed with small cell carcinoma lung cancer. It has spread to my left hip and lumbar spine. I was diagnosed about a month and a half ago. I live in Parkersburg, WV. So many new, shocking, scary and life changing things have happened in such a short time. I'd love to talk to someone who has the same symptoms or close to it. thank you so much for being here. Maryanne
Hi Darell, Sorry you had to find us but you will find we are a group of very supportive and knowledgable people. I personally do not have an answer for you as far as small cell goes. But you will get answers as there are many who do have small cell. Just know that there are treatments out there and LC is not a death sentence. One you start treatment you will accept this more and will feel better. Donna G
Hi Darrell and welcome. Those of us who have been through the diagnosis stage know exactly what you are saying. So many tests, so many appointments, so many new doctors and specialists, so much new info and so much emotional stess. It is tough. Hope you have some good support from family and friends also. What treatment is in place? What have they done for your hip and lumbar spine? Have you started chemo? Do they plan to do preventative brain radiation? Keep us posted on how you are doing. Darrell
I promise that I will fight as hard as I can. I also promise to make you proud of me. If this cancer has done anything good to me, it's made me realize how many people love me. I am so incredibly lucky. I took it for granted when I was healthy. I knew I treated people right, but I never knew to what extent until there was no more room in my hospital room for more cards, flowers or what-nots. I think about that every day. You all have made me realize that I'm not in this by myself. I helps to cut down on the million different ideas that I hear everyday from diets to physical therapy. Thank you all again.
